Somebody somewhere said we hate what we cannot Understand!

Peugeot has been a much hated brand by so many people because the people who understand the Dynamics and Maintenance of this Vehicle are few and far in between!

You would always have problems when you give a generalist a car that needs a specialist.

I've been working on Strictly Peugeot Vehicles 307, 206 and 406 in that order for over a decade now.

I can take these Vehicles apart and put them together without stress and if you're in Port Harcourt and own a Peugeot you might know me.


I want to use this thread to help anyone who has issues with the above named vehicles!

Post your issues, let's post solutions. If these solutions work then in future anyone searching this forum would have solutions to refer to.

Over time too I would post some common issues and solutions I've encountered.

ABS Pump Fire

My Old time customer called me last Saturday morning that while Driving his Peugeot 307 he got a Braking System Failure light and not long after smoke started coming out from the left front tyre.

He quickly cleared, pulled out the Battery connector and used his extinguisher on the fire.

He called and explained and sent a photo and I saw it was from the ABS Pump control Module.

A recall has been issued on that part over 10 years ago because water ingress into the module can cause shorts which can cause fires or damage in the module.

I asked for a photo of the part number, took a car to Owerri and swapped then bled the system.

The car went back to normal.


Pls note, Part numbers must match (the 965**** number on the module) else the speedometer and mileage would not function and the STOP woun't leave the dashboard.

Does the ABS recall for that model also affect the 206 with 1.6 16V engine TU5JP4

It's likely the same as this was a TU5JP4 engine too,

But the Vehicles recalled where of a certain VIN range.

The recall just involved putting a plastic cover on the Abs ECU to prevent water getting in so I think just prevent water from getting in yours and you should be fine.

The customer said his sand protector was off and they has washed the car that morning at the Hotel he stayed in so likely that is how the water got in.

Exactly, yours looks like a different Model though.

But the Issue is at the point where the electrical wires plug into it (especially the thick high voltage wires under).

Pls recently i realised that my rear speakers on my 206 are cutting in and out. Atimes they will work and most of the time they dont work. Pls where can i check. I miss the bass

95% of the time it's the contacts you need to disconnect, clean and fix back.

Corrosion causes that, do you have that allen key set?
You can loosen the back panel and check.

The one plugged into the speakers.

Cleaning and re-connecting usually sorts that out.

STOP usually means the vehicle is operating under dangerous conditions (by the manufacturer's standard) and you should stop driving immediately and attend to the issue.

Is there any warning on that middle display when you start the car?

This looks like a Braking system failure which can be anything in the entire system. I've seen this with a Bad ABS pump and so many other things.

Do you have access to anyone with PP2000/Diagbox?

They can scan and it would highlight the exact issue.

stop means stop driving the car.... tow and pray for a God-sent & inspired helping hand to come and pray for the vehicle!

Okay, it usually spells out the issue.

Or you can use the diagnostics menu from the radio to bring all the simple faults out.

I use a peugeot 406..i realise if i drive for d while the car starts to beep (stop oil pressure insufficient).also if if the Ac is turned On aswel,if i dnt switch off the Ac,the temperature will rise above the normal gauge.wat could be responsible .

You shouldn't drive with the low oil pressure warning.
Did you work on your engine recently?
At times people use glue while sealing the engine and it blocks the oil flow (especially filter) giving that warning. Oil pressure sensor and pump too can cause that but unlikely.

For the AC, is your fan connection factory? What's the normal Guage and what level does it rise to?

I own a Peugeout Expert Teepee 2008 edition. About two years ago, I lost the key and no spare. Actually it's Throttle Sensor was a suspect before the loss of key. Down the line, the vehicle wasn't started until last week when a new key properly coded via its Enugu mechanic and electrician (FORMER EMPLOYERS OF AUTOSTAR, ENUGU WHO USED IT IN THEIR COMMERCIAL FLEET).
Trouble now is that the vehicle refused to start(AND THE MECHANIC AND ELECTRICIAN ARE BACK IN ENUGU).
They said the Electric Coil (SAME AS COIL OF 407) should be replaced.
Question is, could they be right since the electrician couldn't find any error?
However, when engine is ignited, there is a kick, just the picking and starting thing.
What should I do? Buy a new coil? Test the old(current one) in any available 407 car( don't know whose car to try it on) or what

I am having issue with my 307 on the display screen I am happy anti pollutant faulty, insufficient oil pressure..... Since I started having these problem the car hardly moves, need to put my leg on the tutle before it starts and when apply the brakes it sounds funny like there's air in it when been applied so what's the possible solution thanks

What's your location?

I use a Citroen c5 with the ew7 engine. I’m having issues with the speed of the car. I noticed it doesn’t move well especially when going uphill or when I gear down to gear 2, it stalls so badly like loss of power. I have changed fuel pump, replaced plugs and coil. The fuel display is showing 13.81L/100km instead of the normal 12.1L/100km. Pls what could be wrong
