Every business needs sales to generate revenue, and eventually profits. This is needed to keep the business running.
A critical factor that determines how much sales you make is knowing your ideal customer.


Your ideal customer is the best example of the person to whom your product or service will be of greatest benefit. It helps them solve their problem in the easiest and simplified way.

The common notion that most network Marketers have especially in the beginning, is that we think everyone is a potential customer.
You eventually find out that NOT everyone is a customer.


In Network Marketing, customers fall into two categories:
Those who want to make more money
Those to whom your product or service will be of benefit.

Since 90% of your sales will come from your ideal customer, finding them will help you to focus more of your energy and resources on them, so you can help them solve their problems, locate them and make more sales and sign-ups.

You can follow these 7 step-by-step process to find these people

1. Make a list of all the benefits that your product or service has. For Networkers, these are mainly those who want to make more money, and those that will get their problem solved by your product or service.


2 Identify pain points that you can solve for them. From the customers point of view, what problem will they be happy to get rid of?


3 Determine WHO needs these problems solved. You can use as many demographics as possible, from age, sex, marital status hobbies, beliefs, interests, where they hang out, location, level of education, number of children and many more.

4 Determine your potential customers characteristics and behaviours. These can include their temperament, type of friends, what they love and what they generally avoid.

5 What are the types of careers they do? Is your ideal customer someone who is self employed, a businessman or a government employee?

6 What price point can they afford, and what are their buying strategies?
Do they love buying things online, offline or even on credit?

7 Test the data that you now
have, get results and analyse it. Repeat the process as much as possible to get more accurate data.

In an article in Entrepreneur magazine, Brian Tracy, author of the bestseller, The 100 Absolutely Unbreakable Laws of Business Success said,
“The ability to find a customer, sell your product or service to that customer and satisfy the customer so that he buys from you again should be the central focus of all entrepreneurial activity. The greater clarity you have with regards to your ideal customer, the more focused and effective your marketing efforts will be”.

Therefore, you need to dedicate a bit of time to ensure that you do not waste your time targeting the wrong people, and locating your ideal customer. That does not mean you do not need to talk to other people who do not fall within this category.
About 10% of your sales will come from them.
