His Excellency, the Imo PDP Gubernatorial Candidate, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, today led the incoming Vice President of Nigeria, His Excellency, Dr Peter Obi, to the 2018/2019 Oji Ezinihitte Cultural Festival, held at the famous Nkwo Ife Market in Ife, Ezinihitte Mbaise.
The Oji Ezinihitte Cultural Festival is an annual ritual performed by the Good People of Ezinihitte, where the various communities in the Clan present themselves through a dance parade to perform the “Iwa Oji” Ceremony and thereafter take their own “Okwa Oji”. The significant thing about Oji Ezinihitte is that the age long tradition has remained a reuniting arena for families, friends and associates.
While Introducing Dr. Peter Obi, the very excited Ihedioha praised the good people of Ezinihitte for sustaining the cultural heritage left behind by their forefathers. He described the festival as a very important cultural meeting which has earned a pride of place in the cultural Calendar of Nigeria. He noted that the uniqueness of the ceremony motivated him to ensure that Dr Peter Obi despite his tight schedules came around to show solidarity to the people of Ezinihitte and indeed Imo State.
Chief Ihedioha described Dr Obi as a pace setter who will transform the leadership of this Country when elected alongside His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential Candidate of the PDP. He urged the good people of Ezinihitte, Imo and South East at large to see Dr Peter Obi as the surest route to the much anticipated Igbo Presidency, hence the need to give the PDP overwhelming support in the forthcoming elections has become paramount.
While speaking, Dr Peter Obi praised the people of Ezinihitte and their culture, noting that what He has come to do is to say thank you for finding him worthy of their invitation. He thanked the Traditional Rulers and the organizers and urged them to continue to preach for good governance, as that is the only way the youths can have access to gainful employment, meaning given to life and the entire Nigeria system WORK AGAIN. Dr Peter Obi who came with His wife, Lady Margret Obi, promised to to be part of the event in the coming years.
The Highpoint of the occasion was the presentation of the Traditional “Okwa Oji” to His Excellency, Dr Peter Obi and Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha and offering of special traditional blessings to the aspirations of the duo by the Traditional Rulers of Ezinihitte Extraction and the leadership of Ezinihitte Development Union.
His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha was accompanied by His dear wife, a great Daughter of Ife Community, Lady Ebere Ebere Ihedioha, the State Chairman of the PDP, Chief Barr. Charles Ezekwem, Ikemba Okigwe, the PDP Candidate for Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Representatives Seat, Hon. Emeka Chinedu, the Ezinihitte Assembly Candidate, Barr. Anyadike Nwosu, amongst other friends and well wishers.
