Police Reveal Next Move After Dino Melaye Surrenders by Tundemuttee: 3:45pm On Jan 05, 2019 |
Police have announced the next step they will take after Senator Dino Melaye surrendered himself to them. Force Public Relations Officer, Mr Jimoh Moshood, revealed what the police were planning to do in a statement on Friday in Abuja. The statement was issued shortly after Senator Dino Melaye surrendered to the Police Investigation Team at his residence at about 3:00pm. He was wanted by the police for alleged criminal conspiracy and attempted culpable homicide, which he reportedly committed on July 19, 2018. “Senator Dino Melaye and his armed thugs attacked police personnel, shot and wounded SGT Danjuma Saliu on stop and search duty along Aiyetoro Gbede, Mopa Road in Kogi State,” Moshood said. “The Police Officer, Sgt. Danjuma Saliu, is yet to recover from the gunshot injury he sustained during the attack and still under intensive medical care in the hospital.” The police spokesman said the lawmaker has since surrendered to the force and has been taken into custody for investigation. He added that Senator Melaye was subsequently taken to the Police Hospital in Abuja for medical attention and in stable condition. On the next step to take, Moshood said an investigation into the alleged crimes against the senator was ongoing and the case would be taken to court on completion of the investigation. He disclosed further that Senator Melaye surrendered to the Police Investigation Team after an eight-day siege on his residence since December 28, 2018. According to him, the police personnel arrived the residence of the lawmaker with a duly obtained Warrant of Arrest to effect his arrest to answer to the allegations against him being investigated by the Kogi State Police Command. “Senator Dino Melaye on sighting the police team locked up himself in the building to evade arrest,” the Force spokesman alleged. “The Warrant of Arrest was obtained after Senator Dino Melaye refused to honour police invitation dated July 23, 2018, signed by the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command addressed to the Clerk, National Assembly, Abuja, inviting Senator Dino Melaye to report on July 26, 2018 at 1100Hrs at the Kogi State Police Command, CIID, Lokoja to answer to a case of Criminal Conspiracy and Attempted Culpable Homicide against him under investigation in the Kogi State Police Command.” “The Police Investigation Team cordoned off the building and continued to be in wait for eight days for Senator Dino Melaye to obey the law and surrender himself for arrest,” Moshood added. “While the Police Investigation Team was waiting, Senator Dino Melaye granted an interview monitored on television stations that he was not in Abuja. “This claim eventually was discovered to be completely false as Senator Dino Melaye surrendered to the waiting Police Investigation Team today (Friday) at his residence in Abuja at about 1500hrs.” https://all-gists..com/2019/01/police-reveal-next-move-after-dino-melaye-surrenders.html 7 Likes 3 Shares |

investigation is still ongoing whereas Dino is in police detention and would be there till investigation is completed and he's charged to court. Welcome to the monkey Republic of Nigeria where justice against the opposition is served in the reverse. Deji is, still in police custody while investigation is ongoing...so is dasuki, El zazaky. meanwhile orji Kalu, Ganduje that actually to have cases to answer are working about free men. Welcome to the zoo. 25 Likes 3 Shares |

C Nigerians laughing and celebrating injustice. awon Ode...continue sleeping, one day u will wake up to c that your tongue is no longer your own. Even if he is guilty..this is not how a Democratic government go about doing its business. Sambisa forest is there...yet to be combed till now..Terrorist are going about killing people whenever they want, Maze theft happening live on TV. A lot of issues on ground....with little or no serious attention from the Nigeria security agents. I have never being a fan of politics...but the police force taking part in it publicly like this..making it the most serious case amongst others means Nigeria has taken 10steps backwards. For a country that is finding it hard to grow it is nothing but great sadness. For the tribalistic ones..keep it up..I wonder what you have gained from others suffering. awon oloshi 9 Likes 1 Share |

Who would even fight for you? It's people like you that chain themselves to a tether and willingly give the leash to their Oppressors! Bro, it's your future we're talking about here, but it looks like you have sold that future off just because of hatred. 3 Likes |

shachris02: Nope thats not the way the law works. Once Dino stops acting his drama, he will charged to court and a bail hearing will hold... If he is granted bail and perfects the conditions attached , he will be allowed to go home.. If he is unable to get bail , then Kuje is his new home... Before you quote me, remember a policeman who was just carrying out his lawful duty was shot and is still lying in the hospital.. Why? Because Dino couldnt behave himself 3 Likes |

Is Dino culpable in the attack and shooting of an officer of the law? If NO; why did he spurn previous invitations from the police, only to lock himself up? If yes; why mustn't he be arrested and made to face the consequences??! 2 Likes |
