General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor E.A Adeboye has warned against rigging the 2011 general election saying that Christians would fight politicians who try to compromise the process.

Adeboye who gave the warning at the just concluded annual convention of the RCCG enjoined Christians to ensure they all register, vote and be ready to protect it from riggers.
He said that unlike in the past, Christians would not relax and allow the future of the people mortgaged by politicians who would like to compromise the next general election.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), we love you and we will support you but if you ‘dabaru’ our election, we will fight, we will fight”. He cautioned that Christians would not allow the election to be rigged and insisted that compromising the electoral process in 2011 would be resisted.

The revered cleric urged Christians to come out enmasse to vote for candidates of their choice and advised that they should also defend and protect their votes. Addressing the mammoth congregation that graced this year’s convention, he said that God revealed to him that about 14,000 babies would be born in a year but he kept asking for more and was surprised with 54, 000 children.

Some of the dignitaries in this year’s convention includes Governors of Rivers and Ondo States, Rotimi Amaechi and Olusegun Mimiko respectively and the Deputy governor of Lagos State, Mrs Sarah Sosan.
It will be recalled that the Save Nigeria Group had been vocal in asking Nigerians to resist all those who would attempt to rig the next general election.

The group chaired by the Pastor of the Later Day Assembly, Tunde Bakare has been insistent that the people must not only vote but be ready to protect their votes.
