CelebritiesStardom Take Away My Freedom -- Nkechi Emmanuel Aka Nurse Titi by 4Ebisco(op): 10:05pm On Feb 24, 2018
Nollywood actress Nkechi Emmanuel may not really be a fan of stardom as she has issued that it has taken things she love from her.

The actress who got fame after starring in the popular TV series clinic matters where she played the role of nurse Titi has recently tie the knot traditionally with the love of her life.

When asked in an interview that, you’ve come to be popular especially for your role as ‘Nurse Titi’ in ‘Clinic Matters’. How do you handle the stardom?

“It hasn’t been easy because personally, I love to live a simple life. I’m not the loud, flashy type. I love to jump on a bike or ‘Keke Napep’… Mix up with people and all. But when I’m all alone in my car with glasses all wound up listening to the radio, it’s really boring. I love to eat roasted plantain and groundnuts; I love to drink ‘garri’ and all the local food. But one can’t be seen doing all of this because of the way people think. They will just assume you’ve gone broke, they won’t understand that it’s what you want at that moment. So you have to keep ‘packaging’ yourself because you can’t explain to every single person that this is what you want.” She answered.

I don’t think stardom will stop anyone from drinking his or her garri, who drinks garri in public? Or is it not in your house you eat whatever you feel like eating?

CultureUse Your Mother Tongue In All Social Gatherings – Ohanaeze Tells Ndigbo by 4Ebisco(op): 6:45am On Feb 22, 2018
The apex Igbo cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has asked Ndigbo to speak their vernacular at both social and unofficial engagements for the young ones to learn.

President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Nnia Nwodo, made this known during yesterday’s International Language Day celebration in Enugu.

In a statement signed on his behalf by his Media Adviser, Chief Emeka Attamah, Nwodo decried the growing decline in the use of Igbo language among Ndigbo in carrying out both their official and unofficial engagements.

Ohanaeze “regretted that even at most social, cultural and economic gatherings made up of only Ndigbo, they unfortunately resort to English language, which largely is not the case with other major ethnic groups in the country.”

He, however, said “that Ohanaeze Ndigbo was ready to, in conjunction with interested parties, undertake activities that would promote and propagate Igbo language, such as debates, music competitions, fashion parades, films and cultural festivals, among others,” and asked governments of Igbo-speaking states to build cultural or arts centres that would help preserve Igbo cultural artefacts as well as encourage their state Councils of Arts and Culture to enable them perform optimally.

“Ohanaeze also urged the Igbo states to ensure that special days are set aside for the wearing of purely Igbo attire for those in government and the use of Igbo language in carrying out legislative proceedings in their state assemblies on such days.

“It further called on state governments in Igbo land to make Igbo language a compulsory subject in their schools.

“Ohanaeze Ndigbo further advocated the harmonisation of iriji (New Yam) festivals in Igbo land to be held on a unanimously agreed day to help unite Ndigbo more and make them speak with one voice on all national issues,” the statement added.

PoliticsEx-militants Threaten To Return To Creeks Over Non-payment Of Stipend by 4Ebisco(op): 8:51am On Feb 21, 2018
About 3,642 former militants under the third phase of the amnesty programme have threatened to return to the creeks if the Amnesty office does not resolve lingering issues bordering on the non-payment of stipends and non-admission of real militants into the amnesty programme.

Chairman of the Coalition of Niger Delta ex-militants, General Para Ekiye, who stated this in a statement in Yenagoa, said the former militants affected by the shoddy treatment being meted out by the amnesty office are ready to lead a protest to Abuja to demand the sack of the coordinator of the amnesty programme, Brigadier General Paul Boroh, if the amnesty office does not address their grievances.

Ekiye, who recalled that 13 days after he led a protest in August 2012 and 3,642 former militants from third phase were approved to be included in the amnesty programme, disclosed many of their names have been substituted to benefit from the amnesty programme, including trainings abroad, with the excuse that they do not have United Nations code.

He said there are ongoing meetings as many of the former militants are aggrieved and are ready to return to the creeks and paralyse oil production if the amnesty office is not called to order.

“The amnesty programme was introduced to stop the militancy activity in the Niger Delta region. It is not for a political appointee to come and mislead us. After I led a protest in 2012, 3,642 were approved to be members of the third phase but the amnesty office has mismanaged the programme.

“Instead of sending original militants to training and schools, they have replaced former militants with those that knew nothing about the militant struggle. When we complained they said we have no UN Code. The question is that the non-militants that were sent for training abroad where did they get their own UN code from.

“They preached peace and we accepted the peace but the current situation is that we are disappointed with the current happenings in the amnesty office. The allowances are not being paid regularly. We are serving notice to go back to the creeks”

Mr. Owei Lakemfa of the amnesty office in an interview explained that there are a lot of people who made protests which need to be understood.

He said all those that have not been paid for years means they are not part of the amnesty programme while those that were paid till last year would have the money once money is released.

PoliticsBiafra: Obasanjo Hates Ojukwu, Igbos – MASSOB by 4Ebisco(op): 7:38am On Feb 20, 2018
The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) Monday called former President Olusegun Obasanjo a pathological liar, betrayer and deceiver who hates Igbos.

MASSOB in a statement issued in Abakaliki by its leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu attacked Obasanjo for not attending the burials of the two Igbo elder statesmen – Late Odumegwu Ojukwu and Dr. Alex Ekwueme or sending condolence messages over their demise, which it said, confirmed his hatred for Igbos.

The statement reads: “Obasanjo knows the truth that General Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu was right in all his activities that involved Biafra, he knows the truth that Ndigbo were schemed out of political reality in Nigeria,

“Obasanjo knows this truth that he hates Biafra and her people, he also knows the truth that all his dealings with Ndigbo are all camouflaged and hypocritical.

“Olusegun Obasanjo openly without shame proved his pathological hatred and sadisms on Ndigbo when Eze Igbo Gburugburu died, Obasanjo did not attend the burial of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu and he did not send condolence.

“He always sees Ojukwu as his enemy even in death and whosoever that hates Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu hates Ndigbo; such a person can never be a friend to the people of Biafra, Ndigbo can never enter into alliance with such a hater.

“Again, Olusegun Obasanjo did not attend the burial of Dr Alex Ekwueme, former vice president of Nigeria, his absence during the week-long national burial of most distinguished national leader again proved his pathological hatred of Ndigbo. Obasanjo hates everything concerning Ndigbo.”

CelebritiesSkin Cancer: "I'm Still In Pain" - Banky W Cries Out by 4Ebisco(op): 11:00pm On Feb 15, 2018
Nigerian Singer, BankyW in an Insta-live video on Instagram answered some questions on the rare strain of skin cancer tumors found in his shoulder surgery removal he did last year.

The singer said his still in a little bit of pain but from his recent test result his in the clear and better.

In November 2017, In a lengthy post on Instagram, Banky W showed pictures of his surgery scars, thanking God for his mercies and successful operations.

According to Banky W, he treated a rare strain of skin cancer which resurfaced after it first appeared 10 years ago.

He wrote;

A wise man once said this: “Scars. A sign that you had been hurt. A sign that you had been healed.” Scroll through the pictures to see mine.

I’m sharing these because they’re proof of what God has brought me through. And because somewhere out there, I know there’s someone who needs to hear this.

For those who’ve been wondering why I’ve been away so long..I had my 3rd surgery on a rare strain of skin cancer tumours in my shoulder last month. The first 2 times were over 10 yrs ago, then it recently resurfaced. But this isn’t a sad story as much as it is a reminder, and a testimony.

A reminder that you should never take life for granted. You only get 1 shot. Some people went to sleep and never woke up. Many others have lost the battle to cancer and other illnesses. Many are still fighting. U never know when your time will be up so don’t waste another minute. It’s also a testimony about the goodness of God. I think I had to go through this again to remember how merciful God is to me; Lord knows I don’t deserve it but He saves me time and again anyway. I keep saying I need to write a book. I really, really do.

The past few weeks of recovery have been tough, but beautiful. I’m finally back on my feet, feeling stronger and ready to get back to life. I’m especially thankful to my Nurse Susu for loving me and being by my side every step of the way – I don’t deserve U ??, my parents & siblings, in-laws & close friends for the love, support and prayers, my Pastors – Pastor Tony Rapu & Pastor Del Balogun of TPH, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya and Pastor Bayo Adeyokunnu – for constantly praying with and for me. And of course to Dr Wodajo & Dr Miralli & their teams – who God used to operate on me successfully.

I’m thankful for life, provision and healing. Pls dont feel bad, or msg me with any worries.. God has done it, just thank Him for me.

The pain will eventually go away but the scar won’t – and I’m glad because it’s a reminder to me of what God has done, and evidence to you of what He CAN do. I’m not stronger or better than anyone. I’m just a living testimony that no matter what u face, U can survive & thrive, by God’s grace.

Nollywood top acts such as Ramsey Noah, Jim Iyke, Genevieve Nnaji, Stephnie Okereke and Kate Hensaw were visibly absent.

These actors have been acting alongside Omotola for over 20 year now so it will be surprising that they were not in attendance.

From the reports gathered, two of the above names were invited but couldn’t make it because of their engagement somewhere else, but the rest were not invited at all.

He wrote;

”Stop confusing our teenage boys with your “Mumu over filtered look… @bobrisky222 Omg, what’s this my brother turning into sef? Can you imagine, i just overheard some teenage boys in Lekki phase 1 discussing among themselves, and one was saying that the other night, while feeling so sleepy after looking at several pics on the internet, he almost kissed the Snapchat pics of @bobrisky222 thinking he was a girl, until he received a “dirty slap” from his elder sister who alerted him that its @bobrisky222 and not some pretty girl… I’m sure this is how hundreds of other innocent teenagers feel too, because every day, this she or he of a brother keeps changing and filtering his looks just to confuse guys, especially teenagers…

Parents, please monitor what your kid watch on social #media, imagine a boy in his teen, fantasizing over the Snapchat pictures of @bobrisky222 and after developing feelings for him/she not knowing that he/she is a man and not a girl? Imagine that kind of “mumu” #lifestyle? Is this the way forward Nigeria? Is it when all our teenage boys start having nonsense feelings for @bobrisky222 Snapchat looks that we would wake up?”

PoliticsOyo APC Defends Ajimobi Over Allegation Of Imposition Of Candidate by 4Ebisco(op): 3:40pm On Feb 13, 2018
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in Oyo State has reacted to the allegation of imposition of candidates by the state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi and the party hierarchy. Some protesters who stormed the Oke-Ado state secretariat of the party on Monday ahead of the forthcoming local government election billed to take place on Saturday May 12th 218 questioned the development.

MC EBISCO recalls that thousands of members of the party yesterday protested at the party’s office against what they called planned imposition of candidates by the state governor.

But the party in a statement sent to MC EBISCO Tuesday morning while reacting to the allegation, noted that such protest was capable of bringing the party into disrepute.

APC in the statement signed by its Public Relations Officer (PRO), Mr. Wasiu Olawale Sadare, described the allegations of the planned imposition of candidates as a figment of the imagination of the protesters and their sponsors.

Sadare in the statemented, however, urged members of the general public to regard the protest as cheap blackmail and antics employed to cause unnecessary tension in the land. He said, “The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State has warned its members, particularly aspirants jostling for party tickets in the forthcoming local government council election and their supporters, to desist from any conduct capable of bringing the party into disrepute or cause its leadership to lose focus.

“This warning came against the backdrop of a protest rally staged at the Oke-Ado State Secretariat of the Party by a group of persons believed to be APC members and supporters acting on the suspicion that there were plans to compromise on the choice of conduct of party primaries for many aspirants eyeing chairmanship and councillorship seats of the 33 local government councils and 35 local council development areas of the state in the poll slated for May 12, 2018.

“APC described the allegations of planned imposition of candidates as a figment of the imagination of the protests and their sponsors urging members of the general public to regard it as cheap blackmail antics employed to cause unnecessary tension in the land.

“We are indeed embarrassed at the level which decorum was thrown into the air by this set of people, some of who we could identify as APC members in the state. Peaceful and purposeful protests are some of the essentials of democracy but when cheap blackmail is involved, it becomes condemnable.

“The allegation of planned imposition of candidates is not only a hoax but also something that should not featured in the present scenario. The state executive committee of the APC led by Chief Akin Oke has earned itself a reputation for upholding the sanctity of internal democracy as enshrined in our party constitution while the state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has also demonstrated personal commitment to the ideals of the party.

“In the build to 2015 general election, Oyo APC ranked among the best state party chapters where candidates emerged through transparent, free, fair and credible primaries. Neither the governor nor any other person influenced the choices made by delegates and we have not deviated from this path of rational conduct.

“Meanwhile, the seeming delay in the release of guidelines by the party was caused by the new development explained to all stakeholders by OYSIEC at a meeting last Wednesday when indications emerged that the recent delineation of wards exercise done in the state would be implemented at the May 12 poll.

“The implication is that additional wards have been created but they have not been made public. It then became imperative to wait on OYSIEC which had promised to release the map and necessary documents this week to guide all participating political parties. But as at now (Monday), nothing has been heard from the electoral body.

“It is also important to set the record straight on the issues raised by the protesters. There was never a time we received a protest letter or any other letter from individual or group concerning the need to conduct primaries since we know what to do at a time like this to satisfy all parties without running foul of the constitution of our great Party.

Sadare while concluding, appealed to members of the party to desist from acting on unfounded rumours and unsubstantiated allegations from those he called fifth columnists.

“Lastly, we are appealing to all aspirants and their supporters to desist from acting on unfounded rumours and unsubstantiated allegations coming from fifth columnists as we guarantee the announcement of the guidelines that would usher in free, fair and credible primaries as soon as we get updated by OYSIEC on the issue of ward delineation”.

CrimeAirpeace Flight Burgled At Lagos Airport by 4Ebisco(op): 6:29am On Feb 10, 2018
Suspected Burglars on Thursday attacked an aircraft belonging to Air Peace at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, as it was about to take off.

The attackers were said to have opened the cargo section of the Flight 7138 taxiing for departure on runway 18R (A1) of the airport.

Passengers on board the Air Peace flight disembarked while the explosive ordinance disposal (EOD) squad, Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) Aviation Security (AVSEC) and the airline’s security team carried out a check.

Chris Iwarah, Air Peace communications manager, confirmed the incident in a statement.

He said the cargo was opened for about 15 seconds “and immediately shut down”.

The passengers were asked to alight the flight for another 30minutes

“The pilot-in-command of the aircraft alerted the control tower.

“Pilot-in-command, Capt. Adesola Arasi had to contact control tower when he was alerted by the light that came on in the cockpit suggesting that the cargo hold was opened for about 15 seconds and immediately shut.

“In line with our high-security standards and the huge value we place on the lives of our guests and crew, Capt. Arasi insisted on having EOD squad check Flight APK 7138 before takeoff to be doubly sure nothing was deposited in the cargo hold by the suspected thieves to endanger the lives of our guests and crew.

“Our guests, who were fully briefed of the development by the pilot-in-command, were advised to disembark from the aircraft and board an Air Peace bus while the joint security operation by EOD, FAAN AVSEC and our security team lasted. The Lagos-Abuja flight was cleared by the security experts after an exhaustive screening of the aircraft lasting about 30 minutes.

“The flight eventually took off at 9.30 pm and safely landed in Abuja at about 10.23 pm. Our satisfied guests commended the professionalism of Capt. Arasi and his team as well as the high safety standards of Air Peace,” the statement read.

CelebritiesHow Tboss Describe #bbnaija 2018 Housemates by 4Ebisco(op): 2:59pm On Feb 07, 2018
TBoss thinks the housemates at the BBNaija 2018 house have made the enviroment grossly unsanitary.

Posting on her Instagram last night, the former housemate complained bitterly about the housemates’ conduct, how they share bodily fluids and food, how sickening it was to watch them drag their bodies on bare floor. And it was for this reason she asked Big Brother to call the housemates to order.

“Big Brother please stop that one that’s putting yoghurt on everyone’s lips and n-p-l-s and what not with the same spoon,” said the superstar, adding, “OMG and now she’s sitting on the bare floor with her bu-t half e-po-ed! Yukk Talk about unsanitary.”

She continued, saying, “She’s put Tobi’s sweat on another’s lips and had someone else lick it all up.”

Her rants were quite graphic; she truly was disgusted by the display last night, and that was not all, because she went on to complain about how another housemate talks too much.

Well, that was how folks had a lot to say about TBoss’ conduct last year, although the complaints were mostly about her sullenness and how she often bared her pierced nippled in the house.

PoliticsFani-kayode Reveals How Buhari Is Trying To Destroy Tinubu by 4Ebisco(op): 8:08pm On Feb 06, 2018
Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation Minister, on Tuesday reacted to President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive that Bola Tinubu, National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, should reconcile aggrieved party members.

The Peoples Democratic Party’s chieftain stressed that Buhari was only trying to destroy the former Lagos State Governor by giving him such task.

In a tweet, the former Minister said Buhari ,after destroying Tinubu will also blame him for the failure of the party.

Fani-Kayode wrote: “When a king wants to destroy his top general, he sends him on a mission that is impossible to achieve or to a battle that can’t be won.

“Sending BAT to settle differences between APC members is mission impossible. And the objective is to destroy him and blame him for its failure.”

Buhari had earlier directed Tinubu to lead a reconciliation process of aggrieved party members across the country.

The directive, according to the President is aimed at improving the cohesion within the ruling APC.

CelebritiesMaster, Visa Cards: Group Considers Expelling Nigeria by 4Ebisco(op): 8:47pm On Feb 05, 2018
Nigerians may no longer be able to carry out international transactions as Egmont Group is considering expelling the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), according to a report by Thecable.

A major consequence of the expulsion will be the blacklisting of Nigeria in international finance. This could affect the issuance of Mastercard and Visa credit and debit cards by Nigerian banks.

It could also affect the international rating of Nigerian financial institutions, restricting their access to some big-ticket international transactions. Nigeria will also no longer be able to benefit from financial intelligence shared by the other member countries, including the US and the UK.

Also to be affected is the country’s ability to recover stolen funds abroad. It is understood that the expulsion is part of the agenda of Egmont’ working group and heads of FIU meeting between March 2 and March 7, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

In July 2017, the group suspended Nigeria, citing interference of EFCC in the workings of the NFIU. The body had asked Nigeria to amend the law establishing the NFIU to make it autonomous.

It also accused the NFIU of failing to protect “confidential information, specifically related to the status of suspicious transaction report (STR) details and information derived from international exchanges”.

PoliticsIBB Urges Pres. Buhari To Step Down Ahead Of 2019 Election In Explosive Open Let by 4Ebisco(op): 7:53am On Feb 05, 2018
Weeks after ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo wrote an open letter to President Buhari not to contest in the 2019 general elections, another former President, Ibrahim Babangida has called on the president to step down in 2019 to allow a generational shift that would reinvent the wheel of leadership and spur healing in the land.

Babangida in the statement issued on his behalf by his spokesman, Prince Kassim Afegbua particularly lamented the flow of blood in the country saying that it was a thing of irony that the country that himself and other Nigerians fought to keep together is daily being drawn to the seems by the flow of blood across the land.

Babangida also lamented the herdsmen/farmers clashes as he called for the adoption of ranching as a way of stemming the crisis just as he lamented the recycling of analogue leadership as he called for a more youthful and digital leadership to push the country in the comity of nations.

Red the full statement below:

In the past few months and weeks, I have played host to many concerned Nigerians who have continued to express legitimate and patriotic worry about the state of affairs in the country. Some of them have continued to agonize about the turn of events and expressly worried why we have not gotten our leadership compass right as a country with so much potential and opportunity for all.

Some, out of frustration, have elected to interrogate the leadership question and wondered aloud why it has taken this long from independence till date to discover the right model on account of our peculiarities. At 57, we are still a nation in search of the right leadership to contend with the dynamics of a 21st century Nigeria. Having been privileged to preside over this great country, interacted with all categories of persons, dissected all shades of opinions, understudied different ethnic groupings; I can rightfully conclude that our strength lies in our diversity.

But exploring and exploiting that diversity as a huge potential has remained a hard nut to crack, not because we have not made efforts, but building a consensus on any national issue often has to go through the incinerator of those diverse ethnic configurations.

Opinions in Nigeria are not limited to the borders of the political elite; in fact, every Nigerian no matter how young or old, has an opinion on any national issue. And it is the function of discerning leadership to understand these elemental undercurrents in the discharge of state responsibilities.

WHERE WE ARE.

There is no gainsaying the fact that Nigeria is at a major crossroads at this moment in its history; the choices we are going to make as a nation regarding the leadership question of this country and the vision for our political, economic and religious future will be largely determined by the nature or kind of change that we pursue, the kind of change that we need and the kind of change that we get. A lot depends on our roles both as followers and leaders in our political undertakings.

As we proceed to find the right thesis that would resolve the leadership question, we must bear in mind a formula that could engender national development and the undiluted commitment of our leaders to a resurgence of the moral and ethical foundations that brought us to where we are as a pluralistic and multi-ethnic society.

Nigeria, before now, has been on the one hand our dear native land, where tribes and tongues may differ but in brotherhood we stand, and on the other hand a nation that continues to struggle with itself and in every way stumbling and willful in its quest to become a modern state, starting from the first republic till date.

With our huge investments in the African emancipation movements and the various contributions that were made by our leadership to extricate South Africa from colonial grip, Nigeria became the giant of Africa during that period. But having gone through leadership failures, we no longer possess the sobriety to claim that status. And we all are guilty.

We have experimented with Parliamentary and Presidential systems of government amid military interregnum at various times of our national history.

We have made some progress, but not good enough to situate us on the pedestal we so desirously crave for. It is little wonder therefore that we need to deliberately provoke systems and models that will put paid to this recycling leadership experimentation to embrace new generational leadership evolution with the essential attributes of responsive, responsible and proactive leadership configuration to confront the several challenges that we presently face.

In 2019 and beyond, we should come to a national consensus that we need new breed leadership with requisite capacity to manage our diversities and jump-start a process of launching the country on the super highway of technology-driven leadership in line with the dynamics of modern governance.

It is short of saying enough of this analogue system. Let’s give way for digital leadership orientation with all the trappings of consultative, constructive, communicative, interactive and utility-driven approach where everyone has a role to play in the process of enthroning accountability and transparency in governance.

I am particularly enamored that Nigerians are becoming more and more conscious of their rights; and their ability to speak truth to power and interrogate those elected to represent them without fear of arrest and harassment. These are part of the ennobling principles of representative democracy. As citizens in a democracy, it is our civic responsibility to demand accountability and transparency.

Our elected leaders owe us that simple but remarkable accountability creed. Whenever we criticize them, it is not that we do not like their guts; it is just that as stakeholders in the political economy of the country, we also carry certain responsibilities. In the past few months also, I have taken time to reflect on a number of issues plaguing the country. I get frightened by their dimensions.

I get worried by their colourations. I get perplexed by their gory themes. From Southern Kaduna to Taraba state, from Benue state to Rivers, from Edo state to Zamfara, it has been a theatre of blood with cake of crimson. In Dansadau in Zamfara state recently, North-West of Nigeria, over 200 souls were wasted for no justifiable reason.

The pogrom in Benue state has left me wondering if truly this is the same country some of us fought to keep together. I am alarmed by the amount of blood-letting across the land. Nigeria is now being described as a land where blood flows like river, where tears have refused to dry up.

Almost on a daily basis, we are both mourning and grieving, and often times left helpless by the sophistication of crimes. The Boko Haram challenge has remained unabated even though there has been commendable effort by government to maximally downgrade them. I will professionally advise that the battle be taken to the inner fortress of Sambisa Forest rather than responding to the insurgents’ ambushes from time to time.

THINKING ALOUD.

In the fullness of our present realities, we need to cooperate with President Muhammadu Buhari to complete his term of office on May 29th, 2019 and collectively prepare the way for new generation leaders to assume the mantle of leadership of the country.

While offering this advice, I speak as a stakeholder, former president, concerned Nigerian and a patriot who desires to see new paradigms in our shared commitment to get this country running.

While saying this also, I do not intend to deny President Buhari his inalienable right to vote and be voted for, but there comes a time in the life of a nation, when personal ambition should not override national interest.

This is the time for us to reinvent the will and tap into the resourcefulness of the younger generation, stimulate their entrepreneurial initiatives and provoke a conduce environment to grow national economy both at the mboth at the micro and macro levels.

Contemporary leadership has to be proactive and not reactive. It must factor in citizens’ participation. Its language of discourse must be persuasive not agitated and abusive. It must give room for confidence building.

It must build consensus and form aggregate opinion on any issue to reflect the wishes of the people across the country. It must gauge the mood of the country at every point in time in order to send the right message.

It must share in their aspirations and give them cause to have confidence in the system. Modern leadership is not just about “fighting” corruption, it is about plugging the leakages and building systems that will militate against corruption. Accountability in leadership should flow from copious examples. It goes beyond mere sloganeering.

My support for a new breed leadership derives from the understanding that it will show a marked departure from recycled leadership to creating new paradigms that will breathe fresh air into our present polluted leadership actuality. My intervention in the governance process of Nigeria wasn’t an accident of history. Even as a military government, we had a clear-cut policy agenda on what we needed to achieve.

We recruited some of the best brains and introduced policies that remain some of the best in our effort to re-engineer our polity and nation. We saw the future of Nigeria but lack of continuity in government and of policies killed some of our intentions and initiatives. Even though we did not provide answers to all the developmental challenges that confronted us as at that time, we were not short of taking decisions whenever the need arose.

GROWING INSECURITY ON OUR HANDS.

The unchecked activities of the herdsmen have continued to raise doubt on the capacity of this government to handle with dispatch, security concerns that continue to threaten our dear nation; suicide bombings, kidnappings, armed banditry, ethnic clashes and other divisive tendencies.

We need to bring different actors to the roundtable. Government must generate platform to interact and dialogue on the issues with a view to finding permanent solutions to the crises.

The festering nature of this crisis is an inelegant testimony to the sharp divisions and polarizations that exist across the country. For example, this is not the first time herdsmen engage in pastoral nomadism but the anger in the land is suggestive of the absence of mutual love and togetherness that once defined our nationality.

We must collectively rise up to the occasion and do something urgently to arrest this drift. If left unchecked, it portends danger to our collective existence as one nation bound by common destiny; and may snowball into another internecine warfare that would not be good for nation-building. We have to reorient the minds of the herdsmen or gun-men to embrace ranching as a new and modern way to herd cattle.

We also need to expand the capacity of the Nigeria Police, the Nigeria Army, the Navy and Air Force to provide the necessary security for all. We need to catch up with modern sophistication in crime detection and crime fighting.

Due to the peculiarity of our country, we must begin community policing to close the gaps that presently exist in our policing system. We cannot continue to use old methods and expect new results. We just have to constructively engage the people from time to time through platforms that would help them ventilate their opinions and viewpoints.

GTHE CHANGE MANTRA

When the ruling party campaigned with the change mantra, I had thought they would device new methods, provoke new initiatives and proffer new ways to addressing some of our developmental problems.

By now, in line with her manifesto, one would have thought that the APC will give fillip to the idea of devolution of powers and tinker with processes that would strengthen and reform the various sectors of the economy.

Like I did state in my previous statement late last year, devolution of power or restructuring is an idea whose time has come if we must be honest with ourselves. We need to critically address the issue and take informed positions based on the expectations of the people on how to make the union work better.

Political parties should not exploit this as a decoy to woo voters because election time is here. We need to begin the process of restructuring both in the letter and spirit of it. For example, I still cannot reconcile why my state government would not be allowed to fix the Minna-Suleja road, simply because it is called Federal Government road, or why state governments cannot run their own policing system to support the Federal Police.

We are still experiencing huge infrastructural deficit across the country and one had thought the APC-led Federal Government would behave differently from their counterparts in previous administrations. I am hesitant to ask; where is the promised change?

LOOKING AHEAD

At this point of our national history, we must take some rather useful decisions that would lead to real development and promote peaceful co-existence among all the nationalities. We must be unanimous in what we desire for our country; new generation leadership, result-driven leadership, sound political foundation, demonetization of our politics, enhanced internal democracy, elimination of impunity in our politics, inclusiveness in decision-making, and promotion of citizens’ participation in our democratic process.

The search for that new breed leadership must start now as we prepare for 2019 election. I get worried when politicians visit to inform me about their aspirations and what you hear in terms of budgetary allocations for electoral contest does not cover voters’ education but very ridiculous sub-heads.

A typical aspirant in Nigeria draws up budget to cover INEC, Police, Army and men and officers of the Civil Defense, instead of talking of voters’ education, mobilization and sensitization. Even where benchmarks are set for electoral expenditure, monitoring and compliance are always difficult to adhere to. We truly need to reform the political system. And we must deliberately get fresh hands involved for improved participation. We need new ways and new approaches in our political order.

We need a national rebirth. We need a rebranded Nigeria and rebranded politics. It is not so much for the people, but for the institutions that are put in place to promote our political engagements. We must strengthen the one man one vote mantra. It is often ridiculous for me when people use smaller countries in our West Africa sub-region as handy references of how democracy should be. It beggars our giant of Africa status.

The next election in 2019 therefore presents us a unique opportunity to reinvent the will and provoke fresh leadership that would immediately begin the process of healing the wounds in the land and ensuring that the wishes and aspirations of the people are realized in building and sustaining national cohesion and consensus.

I pray the Almighty Allah grant us the gift of good life to witness that glorious dawn in 2019. Amen. I have not written an open letter to the President, I have just shared my thoughts with fellow compatriots on the need to enthrone younger blood into the mainstream of our political leadership starting from 2019.

Crime“how I Led My Friends To Kill My Boss” — 25 Year Old Gateman Narrates by 4Ebisco(op): 10:15pm On Feb 03, 2018
A gateman Narrates his story of how he led his friends to kill my boss.

A 25-year old man, Felix Simon, who worked as a gateman to a retired military personnel has narrated how he led his friends to rob and kill his boss, Mrs. Vivian Rafatu Ajibua aged 61.

The incident happened at Ugiagbe Street, Off Ogbonmwan Street, Off Ugbor Road, Government Reservation Area.

Checks showed that other landlords in the area have chased their security guard away after the incident.

Felix had raised alarm on January 28, 2018 at about 3am that a mysterious fire had engulfed his boss’s apartment.

Sympathizers rushed to put out the fire and Mrs. Ajibua, a widow was found dead with severe burnt on her body inside her bedroom.

The neighbours called the police and relatives who took her corpse to a mortuary and luck ran out of Felix when he was seen throwing his belongings and household items of his late boss over the fence to a nearby uncompleted building.

He was caught as he attempted to flee and handed over to the police.

It was during interrogations by the police that Felix opened up on how he recruited one Peter Zachariah and eight other gatemen in the area to commit the crime.

Felix claimed that he hailed from Mada village in Igon local government area of Nasarawa State and was employed seven months ago.

He said it was one Musa and Isah who are now on the run that killed his boss inside her room.

The suspect said Musa and Idah worked as gatemen in the building opposite his madam’s house and they usually help his boss with some house work.

He stated that they entered the apartment at about 3am after he opened the gate for them adding that he attempted to flee because of fear.

“When my madam was not in the house they came and told me that they want to rob madam. I told them that madam was not at home. They left and returned in the night. Musa just slapped my face and told me to sit by the gate as they entered the house

“After some minutes they left. Then I saw fire inside the house. I started shouting for help.

“I didn’t know they will kill her. I don’t know what came over me. This is evil”.

It was learnt that the gang had earlier cut the burglary proof at the second door to the woman’s apartment while she was away during the day.

Felix said he told the gang the best time to enter the house was when his late boss was cooking at about 3am because that was the time electricity is supplied to the area

Police sources said Musa and Isah from Iyibadu in Nasarawa State attacked and killed the woman after which they informed Felix.

After thinking on how to cover their deed, Felix was said to have told them to use the petrol reserved for generator in the house to burn the woman’s corpse to give the impression that she died from the fire incident.

State Commissioner of Police, Johnson Kokumo said the suspects would be arraigned for robbery murder and arson..
