Nigerian singer and Mavin act, Korede Bello, was yesterday decorated as the Honorary Superintendent of Police by the IGP, Ibrahim Idris. This is coming after the singer was unveiled as the first Nigerian police ambassador in 2015.

At the unveiling of Korede Bello as the first Nigerian Police Ambassador in December 2015, the former Inspector-General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase said that youths were critical to the fight against crime in the country.

Represented by Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Danazumi Doma, Director, Finance and Administration, Arase said:

“Korede Bello, you are the positive representation of Nigerian youths and on this occasion, the Nigeria Police celebrates you. Danjuma Ibrahim, one of the police officers fingered in the killing of six persons in Apo, Abuja, in 2005, has been promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of police (AIG).

Ibrahim Idris, Inspector-General of Police, decorated him with the new rank on Monday at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

Ibrahim and five other police officers had been accused of killing some persons, including five traders, on June 7, 2005, while they were returning from a night party in the city.

During their trial, the other officers and eight other police witnesses had testified that Ibrahim, the most senior officer among them, ordered the killings.

But in November 2017, he was controversially acquitted alongside two others by a federal high court in Abuja, after pleading not guilty to the charges.

Following his acquittal, Ibrahim, who was a deputy commissioner of police at the time, was promoted to the rank of commissioner of police.

He was decorated with the rank of AIG along with Istafanus Shettima, Jimoh Ozi-Obea, Bello Yahaya, Mukaddas Garba, Dasuki Galandanchi, Fave Semali and Sadiq Abubakar.

The Nigerian musician Runtown is not in any way letting the boss of Eric Manny by name Okwudili go scot free after taking him to court two times under two years.

Eric Manny had issued that the singer has not been keeping up to his side of the agreement rather he has continuously been breaching the contract he signed.

The court had slammed Runtown with an interim injunction and Okwudili has issued that he pay a sum of seventy million naira to the record label and this has not gone down perfectly with the singer.

The brother of Runtown also had to interfere in bashing the record CEO, Runtown has issued that Okwudili is only trying to exhort money from him unjustly.

“When you live life beyond your means and go broke, don’t try to live off the next man.” He said.

Joining the bashing his brother said that Okwudili couldn't manage his car business well now he wants to come feed out of another man's hard work.

Members of Myetti Allah have been advised to stop giving Fulani a bad name, as it would have a damaging effect on the Fulani yet unborn.

Speaking to the media in Makurdi on Sunday, James Vandefan, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), decried the damaging effect of herding on Fulani children, who were deprived of education.

He argued that herdsmen doing open grazing subject under-age children to dehumanising child labour by making them trek long distances in the name of grazing while the owners sit in the comfort of their houses in the cities.

According to him, nomadic children are deprived of education and exposed to various forms of dangers, which could have been avoided if cattle were kept in the ranch.

He said: “Now you are taking a small child who will be trekking from Kano in the name of grazing, and you deprive him of education.

“The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) is also supposed to come in and arrest these children who are under-age or guardians or parents who send them to graze cows.

“They should be arrested because they are subjecting the children to child labour and depriving them of normal education.

“What is the essence of sending a cow to the bush from morning to evening and these cows are still looking very thin and unhealthy. The best thing is to embrace ranching; it is a very good thing.”
While asserting that the Fulani were known to be a peaceful race, Vandefan decried the negative effect the recent activities of herdsmen had in the country.

He lamented that Nigerians and indeed the international community were beginning to view Fulani as a violent race.
Vandefan, a senatorial aspirant, said: “The Fulani should look at the action of the herdsmen because it will have damaging effect on the generation yet unborn and this will not be a healthy situation.

“People are beginning to see them as a threat where ever they are and this is having a damaging effect on the entire Fulani race.

“We are saying these are foreign Fulani, but why do we give them room to infiltrate our fatherland and kill our people and still let them stay without being prosecuted?

“Miyetti Allah should understand that there is a thin line between nationalism and patriotism. If you are patriotic to your tribe, you make sure that you didn’t kill the ideal of nationalism, because patriotism should stop at the level of assisting one another.”

He said the anti-open grazing law is one of the best things that has ever happened to Nigeria, adding that only illiterates and misinformed persons find the law obnoxious or think it is anti-Fulani.

He said he was in the senatorial race to bring quality representation to his people.

Commissioner of Police in Abia State, Anthony Ogbizi, has said that sureties of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) should tell the world where he is.

Last month, an Abuja Federal High Court ordered Kanu’s counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor to produce his client.

Justice Binta Nyako ordered Ejiofor to produce the elusive IPOB leader during the next adjournment date of March 28, or for his sureties to explain his whereabouts.

Kanu was admitted to bail on April 25, 2017 and the Chairman, South East Senate caucus, Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe, a Jewish High Chief Priest, Immanuu-El Shalom and a Chartered Accountant, Tochukwu Uchendu signed his bail bond.

In a chat with the Punch, CP Ogbizi said the Police is not keeping the Biafra agitator.

His words: “Nnamdi Kanu was charged to court; he still has a case in court. He was granted bail by the court, but we heard that he jumped bail.

“The sureties, who secured the bail conditions for Nnamdi Kanu, should tell us his whereabouts.

On his parents whereabouts, the senior officer said: “They have the right to live anywhere they want. Nobody stopped them from going back to their house, but if they decide to live elsewhere, it is their choice.

“None of them is in the custody of the police; so, we are not in a position to say where they are.”

Ogbizi also confirmed that IPOB members were caught with arms.

“We recovered weapons like petrol bomb, rifles and other weapons.

“We also recovered their insignias; we got a lot of information concerning the military wing of IPOB that they were training and teaching their members military tactics.”

The Ondo state government has debunked claims of an alleged plan to increase the tuition of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko from N40, 000 to N200, 0000.

The Commissioner for Information and Orientation in the state, Yemi Olowolabi, who spoke while reacting to the students’ protest in Akure on Monday, however stated that the tuition paid in the state-owned institutions were no longer sustainable.

Olowolabi assured that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu will not allow any governing board of the institutions to force outrageous fees on the students.

The government also declared its readiness to pay tertiary institutions’ students of the state origin their outstanding bursary and scholarship this year.

Olowolabi explained that funds meant to settle the student’s bursary and scholarship have already been provided in this year’s budget.

The government spokesperson dismissed insinuations that the present administration in the state was engaging in anti-people education policies.

The Lagos State police command yesterday warned some protesters planning to block the Third Mainland Bridge and other critical public infrastructure in the state over the new Land Use Charge (LUC), saying any attempt to breach public peace would be met with stiff resistance.

The police, in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Chike Oti, said up till now, those behind the planned protest were yet to apply for necessary permit, and that it was in their interest to follow the rule of law to ventilate whatever grievances they have with the state government.

Oti said: “The attention of Lagos State Police Command has been drawn to the news making the rounds that a group of persons under the sponsorship of some mischief makers, and who are masquerading as civil rights activists, intends to block the Third Mainland Bridge and occupy some critical public infrastructures in Lagos to protest against increase in the Land Use Charge by the state government.

“The command wishes to warn those concerned that any attempt by any individual or group of persons to cause a breach of the peace or infringe on the rights of others to pursue their daily aspirations, would be met with stiff resistance.”

While recalling a recent protest by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ikeja branch on the new LUC, the police spokesman said it was important for the necessary application to that effect to be made to prevent the protest from being hijacked by hoodlums, which ultimately would threaten the peace of the state.

“As it stands, the Commissioner of Police has not received a single application from any group wishing to carry out protest in any part of the state. It is therefore advised that these individuals wanting to protest government decision should consult with the police as it was the case with the Nigeria Bar Association before they carried out their peaceful protest.”

THE Cross River State Police Command on Friday arrested three Internet fraudsters , also known as yahoo- boys, with charms which they used in defrauding and dispossessing their victims of money and other valuables.

This was just as another group of five yahoo- boys were also arrested on the streets of Calabar .

The Commissioner of Police in the state , Mr. Hafiz Inuwa , who disclosed this in Calabar during the parade of the suspects , gave the names of the yahoo boys that were arrested with charms as 22-year – old Chukwuemeka Ahunanya ; Francis Ugochukwu , 25 ; and Emmanuel Chukwuma, 25.

The CP said the three – man gang had confessed to belonging to a syndicate that was using charms to hypnotise potential victims .

Inuwa said , “ On February 23 , 2018 , at about 0940 hours, the following suspects were arrested in the Akpabuyo Local Government Area on a tip – off . They are Chukwuemeka Ahunanya , Francis Ugochukwu , and Emmanuel Chukwuma.

“ During interrogation , the suspects confessed to belonging to an Internet fraud group also known as yahoo boys. They used charms to defraud and dispossess unsuspecting members of the public of their hard – earned money and other valuables. Some charms were recovered from them during the search . ”

He said that investigation was ongoing to identify their victims , adding that the suspects would soon be charged to court.
Similarly, Inuwa disclosed that the command also on March 8 , 2018 arrested another set of Internet fraudsters .

“ We got a tip – off that five young men who specialise in Internet fraud were sighted along Itu Street , off Mary Slessor Avenue, in Calabar , ostensibly to commit a crime .

“ The following five suspects were arrested by men of the Special Anti – Robbery Squad : Emmanuel Anthony , 33; Victor Eyo, 23; Joshua Archibong , 22 ; Michael Oyo , 23 ; and Edet Emmanuel , 20 , ” he said .

Inuwa disclosed that items recovered from the suspects were a pair of scissors , bottles of CSP Codeine, some mobile phones , ATM cards, play station and ML 350 Mercedes Benz SUV.

When interrogated by Southern City News, one of the suspects who specialised in using charms, Ahunanya , said the gang introduced the use of charms to defraud their victims two weeks ago .

Ahunanya , who claimed to be a graduate of the Maritime Academy in Akwa Ibom State , said , “ We just introduced the use of charms into our business . Though we have not perfected it , we think it will work . We have seen others using it . We started it like two weeks ago. We get information that it works for others using it . ”

Another suspect , Chukwuma, said , “ We only started using the charms like two weeks ago and we have not seen its potency . We cannot tell if it will work because it has not worked for us . I am new in the yahoo business . ”

The Commissioner of Police said the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigation was concluded .

Edo State governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has said his administration has aligned with the Benin Monarch’s far-reaching decisions and royal pronouncements on human trafficking, cultism and other crimes. At a well-attended meeting of chiefs, dukes, native doctors, priests and priestesses with the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, on Friday, the Benin Monarch placed curses on the people perpetrating human trafficking in the state.

The Benin Monarch also extended the curses to killer gangs and cult groups, armed robbers who have been unleashing terror on innocent people in the state and causing mayhem in the name of cult activities. He nullified all oaths administered by human traffickers through their collaborators; native doctors and priests, on victims of the inhuman trade, with a directive that victims of human trafficking are now free from any spiritual oath.

He directed the trafficked persons to speak out and name their slave masters and mistresses and seek help if need be. Obaseki, who hailed the directives of Oba Ewuare II, noted that “the royal intervention would check the menace of human trafficking.” He urged the priests, priestesses and native doctors who have been aiding human trafficking in any way, to desist forthwith. “As a government, we have tremendous respect for all Edo people and residents in the state as well as their religious convictions.

But we will not accept the perpetration of crime and evil in the name of religion and will not condone any form of support for inhuman practices such as human trafficking.” He added, “With Oba Ewuare II’s pronouncements, we expect that those people who have been aiding these traffickers would, in their own interest, withdraw their support and focus on their calling.

We will not spare anyone irrespective of their religious convictions, when caught. “We are working with the federal government through the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) to arrest and jail traffickers and their collaborators. We have a law in the works that will further strengthen this fight and this administration will go after anyone that dares the laws.”

The actor was asked about his ability to interpret diverse roles and he responded saying:

At some point I was doing stereotypes, doing the bad boy, fine boy and playboy stuff. And when I get a script, I ask the director ‘is it possible for me to play a part I am unlikely to be seen playing?’ And if it is okay with him, I’ll give it a try. Housemate in the ongoing ‘Double Wahala’ edition of Big Brother Naija 2018, Cee-c, has said that she would have dealt with Tobi in a totally different manner if they were in the real world.

Big Brother’s camera caught both housemates engaging in a serious brawl after the Saturday night party.

Cee-c was angry that Tobi, who is also her romantic partner, has been acting strange.

She also complained that Tobi has been insulting and calling her names for no reason.

The duo found themselves in a near-fight argument that saw other housemates pleading and trying to calm the situation.

After the scuffle, Cee.c was seen telling other housemates that “had this happened outside the show, Tobi wouldn’t have slept this night.”

A former Minister of Health, Prof. ABC Nwosu has said that vote for President Muhammadu Buhari come 2019 by Igbos will lead to an extension of slavery.

Nwosu stated that Igbo presidency would not be achieved if Buhari is voted in 2019.

He said Ndi Igbo voting for APC in 2019 hoping to become president in 2023 will be making the biggest mistake of their lives, adding that this idea will religate them to become second-class citizens in Nigeria.

The former minister stressed that restructuring and presidency is a top priority on Igbos political agenda, hence the need to reject suggestions that Igbos should wait and rule in 2027.

He told Sun, “Ndi Igbo How can the APC where the leadership consisting of President Buhari, Vice President Osinbajo, the chairman of Party, Odigie-Oyegun and national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu midwife an Igbo presidency in 2023? How will that happen? It cannot happen. As Chief MKO Abiola asked: How can you shave a man’s hair in his absence?

“The best option for Ndigbo is to look for an alternative where they are represented in the center of power in 2019. Ndi Igbo being represented at the centre as Vice Presidential candidate in 2019 will ensure that they are not dealt out in the backrooms where who shall become president and who becomes vice president are settled. If Ndi Igbo are in an alternative political party that absorbs a third force, this will put them at the center where they will make sure that they are represented.

“They cannot afford to wait till 2027 and so, the northern presidential candidate in this alternative party shall serve out the remaining four years and no more. All those advocating that Ndi Igbo should wait till 2027are enemies of Ndiigbo and consequently, enemies of Nigeria because Ndigbo are nation builders.

“For emphasis, the Igbo ethnic group cannot endure beyond 2023. The restiveness in Igbo land and the neo-Biafra agitations are self-evident and only opportunistic ambitious presidential candidates will fail to see this restiveness. The tenure of the president that will emerge in 2019 must be for years only.

“If Mandela with all his greatness did four years, the next President of Nigeria must do four years and give way in the interest of peace and political stability. This was what the north had expected of President Jonathan in 2015. The rest is history. Ndigbo must avoid like leprosy any presidential candidate whose body language indicates eight years especially those of them who have no views on restructuring which is the topmost Igbo agenda currently.

“For the Igbo, restructuring is top of the agenda. The presidency is second. And good governance can only happen when there is peace and security. Restructuring brings about massive devolution of power and resources from the centre to the federating units and stops the massive roguery at the centre.

“The Igbo position is that there must be devolution and restructuring of Nigeria. Those benefiting from the present unfair structure are the ones resisting restructuring not realizing that they are hurting themselves in the long run.

“The summary is that if Ndigbo vote for APC in 2019, they will be voting themselves into slavery in Nigeria. So, the alternative should be for them to look for a platform that offers only a four-year waiting period, a platform where an Igbo man is at the centre, preferably as the running mate. That’s what the Igbo should be looking for.

“Ndigbo expect that any Nigerian whether from the north, south-west or South-South will show understanding that continuing to exclude a major group in Nigeria from the presidency is wrong and a recipe for political instability.”

The Chief Examiner Officer of Joint Admissions Matriculations Board (JAMB) in Borno, Babagana Gutti, has said only 1,700 candidates registered for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Borno state.

Gutti told journalists in Maiduguri on Friday that the candidates would participate in the conduct of Computer Based Test (CBT) in eight designated centres in the state.

He disclosed that each of the CBT centres was designed with a 250 capacity, adding that seven centres were set up in Maiduguri and one in Biu.

Gutti listed some of the centres to include Kashim Ibrahim College of Education, National Open University (NOUN) and Nasara Computers.

The JAMB official added that adequate arrangements and effective security measures had been put in place to facilitate smooth conduct of the examination, which commenced on Friday, March 9,

According to him, “about 1,700 candidates registered for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Borno state.

“We have conducted a mock examination to test equipment and prepare the students for the final examination.

“The mock examination was conducted successfully, reports from other centres in the country indicated promising outcome,” he said.

Gutti added that the board also adopted proactive modalities and solved some of the problems associated with biometric data capture during registration process, to facilitate a hitch free exercise.

Notorious and dreaded armed bandit in Zamfara State, Tsoho Buhari, also known as ‘Buharin Daji’, has been reportedly killed at Nakango village in Dansadau Emirate, Maru Local Government area of the state.

Nakango is a border town between Dansadau Emirate in Zamfara and Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

It was gathered that Buharin Daji was killed on Wednesday by some “repentant” armed bandits, who attacked him and his gang members following his refusal to lay down his arms after peace talks with Zamfara state authorities.

The Sun reports that trouble started about a week ago when Buharin Daji’s gang rustled about 700 cattle, some belonging to the in-law of one of his former second in command, identified as ‘Jabe’, who confronted him.

Daji, it was said, refused to return the cattle to their owners.

A few days ago, Buharin Daji in a recorded phone conversation with a secretary of an Emir, threatened to make Zamfara worse than Borno should the state fail to release some of his gang members in its custody.

The Monday night nomination show had taken a another turn as Cee C put up Tobi and his partner, Alex up for eviction.

Cee-c, speaking with big brother during the diary session said she wants Tobi to feel the pressure of being nominated.

Recall that last week, Tobi who was the head of house had said his principle made him put up his formal partner, Cee-c for eviction.

According to her, Tobi is too relaxed, and if she does not put him up for eviction, he won’t be strong in the game.

Nollywood actor, Kenneth Okonkwo has declared to contest the forthcoming governorship election in Enugu State as an APC candidate, describing the administration of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state as not working.

According to the SUN, Okonkwo declared his intention over the weekend during the expanded stakeholders meeting of the APC, Enugu state Chapter.

In his words;

“My people made that move, called me and I said God forbid that I will quench your spirit. I said I am going to present myself in line with the wishes of my people for this post to be the governor of Enugu state 2019 and I so present myself.

“I want you to understand that it is beautiful when you are coming under a party that you have perused the constitutional aims and objectives and you have ensured that those objectives are compatible with your own aims and objectives as a politician.

“In APC, our aim is to build a nation that will grantee political stability, mutual and peaceful co-existence, respect and understanding and equal opportunity for all. We are here to render selfless at all levels of governance that will guarantee people a sense of nationality and patriotism. And I have found those beliefs compatible with my own. I, Dr. Kenneth Okonkwo, hereby present myself to be the gubernatorial candidate of this party.”

The veteran actor, however, explained that it would be more difficult for him to win the APC ticket than winning the governorship itself.

“It is easy to win against a non-performing person; it is easy to win somebody whose greatest achievement is billboards and posters.

“We are not talking about refurbishment, we are talking about legacies,” while challenging anybody from Nsukka to point out any legacy project that the current administration has done. “So if it is not done in Nsukka zone where he comes from, I don’t need to ask other zones,” Okonkwo said.

Okonkwo said if he is elected as the governor of the state, he will bring in the success formula of the Nollywood industry into the state.

According to him the Nollywood Industry has been able to create millions of jobs, even without any government intervention.

“We want to deploy such input and creativity to create legacy projects that Nsukka people can be proud of. That is why they said I must proceed to contest for the governorship of Enugu state come 2019 and we will win,” the veteran actor said.

He disclosed that, should he be elected, he would serve a single term.

The Ohanaeze Youth Council, OYC, Friday, explained its reason for endorsing Governors Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Okezie Ikpeazu and David Umahi of Enugu, Abia and Ebonyi, respectively for second term.

OYC in a statement signed by Mazi Okwu Nnabuike and Engr. Obinna Adibe, its national secretary and the national spokesman, respectively, said the three governors had so far justified the mandate given to them by Ndigbo in their respective States.

It said though there were still areas that needed attention, the governors had performed creditably judging by the limited resources at their disposal.

In the case of Ugwuanyi of Enugu, the youth group said “we are in love with his unparalleled empowerment programmes which is being felt across the State. This is in addition to is rural development agenda, which is community-driven.

“Few days ago, the governor released funds for the execution of various projects across the over 400 communities in the State. In this regards, the onus now lied on the community leaders to ensure proper utilization of the fund.

“In the area of payment of salary, while some States in the country are still struggling to meet up, Governor Ugwuanyi went ahead to even pay 13th month, (Christmas bonus) to the Enugu workers. We are proud of him.

“In addition, the Governor also employed his magic wand in handling issues of herdsmen attack, which occurred in the early days of his administration. Indeed, the wisdom he applied should be a model for other States.”

While speaking on Ikpeazu, the OYC said he had put Nigeria in world map “by resuscitating made-in-Aba, nay Nigeria Products.

“His massive transformation projects across Abia is an eloquent testimony that Ikpeazu remains best Governor Abia has had since creation.

“As Ngwa consensus candidate in 2019, the OYC calls on every other zone to respect the Abia charter of equity, as he has even offered hands of fellowship to detractors, who distracted him for two years.”

The group described Gov. Umahi as the new face of Ebonyi, vowing to leave no stone unturned to lead him to victory.

“We are pleased with his performances in Ebonyi and shall indeed back him up to complete the second tenure, on behalf of Ebonyi South.

“His agricultural revolution has saved Nigeria from importation of rice and raised the country’s GDP.

“His urban renewal programme and light-up Ebonyi have endeared him to Ebonyians”, he stated.

While restating that the trio were the best materials needed in their States for the 2019 election, the OYC vowed to mobilize its structure from the wards to the national level to ensure their re-election.

A man with the stolen identity of the traditional ruler on instagram is in the police custody after he has been arrested for impersonating.

The culprits runs an instagram account with over 262, 000 followers.

He last posted on this platform 2 days ago were he shared a photo of the emir playing with little children.

The media aide to Sanusi had issued that the emir does not run any social media platform or is paying anyone to do so.
