That is a great story! This happens a lot to me, but in Yoruba instead. Like I'll freeze and forget the right response in Yoruba |

isale_gan2: your response should have been "I dey" or "I dey kampe" "I dey well well" might work in a bind, perhaps, i'm not sure. hope you're not kidding me? in fact, well would be wellu wellu, imo. |

I'm serious. But now I'm way self conscious, so let's just forget the whole thing. We'll start over: Hi, TPIA. Nice to meet you. How you dey?! |

chiogo: Understanding it aint that hard if u know the basics, or listen to people converse in it over the years. Mad similar to patois! Speaking Nigerian Pidgin English is hella hard to say the least. Writing it. . . ? Gotdamn!!! Patois is easier IMHO! |
Re: None Nigerians Trying To Act Nigerian by isalegan2: 6:52pm On Jan 07, 2011 |
I spoke a little bit of it . . . long time ago, and I still understand what people are saying. I just have to learn to speak it all over again and carry on a conversation in it, which, honestly, I don't see it happening, until I move back permanently. In written form, to me, it's hilarious. I don't know why. It's like a stand-up comic's language. |
