In the run up to the 2019 general elections, the women folk are still lagging behind. At the presidential level, the female candidate who is can be said to be widely known suddenly gave up her ambition on the contest. At the NASS and State level, it is not promising. Between the PDP and the APC, female candidacy have less than 15% representation nationwide for Senate, Reps, House of Assembly. Both parties didn't give their gubernatorial ticket to any female candidate. The only instances we have seen women is when they are campaigning for their husbands or when a gathering of women are being convinced to vote for a particular male candidate. Why are the female folks at the bottom of the ladder when it comes to political participation and relevance? |
