Just imagine.

The people were gathered in the temple, not saying prayers to the Almighty, but trading among themselves. They were selling different wares - miracle polish (for that shine that will make you the apple of God's eyes), anointed chewing gum for prayer warriors (helps loosen the jaw for use in battle), supernatural handkerchiefs(for quick healing and transfer of chakra), and many other spiritual items.

Everywhere, money was flowing, and the priests generally minded their business. It was God's temple, not theirs. They only collected money from the traders for upkeep, a certain tax they were asked to pay for spiritual guidance, and favor.

But this afternoon felt different. Bartimaeus the Blind was at his regular post at the gate, begging for alms and amazon cards. Temperatures were high, and he could feel the heat spread out from his armpit, sweat and dirt making their way through his half-sewn singlet.

For a moment, it felt like the world had paused. He was blind, but he could tell a huge presence was making its way toward the temple.
