The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has cautions the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, to refrain himself from acts or actions that will suggest in any way that the military has become an arm of a political party.

The party stated this through a press statement signed by it Publicity Secretary while responding to the statement credit to the Chief of Army Staff regarding President Buhari directives.

“Gen. Buratai’s allusion to the people’s candidate, Atiku, as well as his threats to officers and ranks to execute the unlawful order by President Buhari to participate in the electoral process is an aberration of our laws and a recipe for crisis.”

“Atiku spoke on the side of the law and wishes of Nigerians and cannot be intimidated by any body no matter how highly placed.”

“Gen. Buratai is counseled to note that the loyalty of the military is to the state and that the President lacks the powers, under our laws, to deploy soldiers for the conduct of elections.”

“Our party urges Gen Buratai to concentrate on his very demanding assignment of protecting the territorial integrity of our nation and ending insurgency rather than dabbling into partisan politics at the risk of our national cohesion.”

“It is imperative to state that by trying to drag the military to participate in the February 23 Presidential elections, President Buhari plots to suspend our constitution, assume the position of an emperor, trigger unrest, subvert our electoral process and derail our democracy.”

“The party directs President Buhari to the judgment of the Federal High Court, Lagos on March 23, 2015, wherein the court, presided over by Justice Ibrahim Buba, directly outlawed the deployment of troops in the conduct of elections in our country.”

“President Buhari should also avail himself of the subsisting judgment of the Court of Appeal, which on February 15, 2015, held that the President has no powers to deploy soldiers in the conduct of elections.”

“The PDP further counsels President Buhari and Gen. Buratai to end their rationalizing of military option, as the courts have summarily dismissed their arguments that soldiers are needed to guarantee peaceful elections.”

According to the court, “the time has come for us to establish the culture of democratic rule in the country and to start to do the right thing particularly when it has to do with dealing with the electoral process, which is one of the pillars of democracy.

In spite of the behaviour of the political class, we should by all means try to keep armed personnel and military from being a part and parcel of the electoral process.

It's not an irony and shame that an army COAS-Buratai whose home state of Borno & NE region have been under the constant siege & destruction of the daring & destructive BH only obeys a C-in-C order to kill ballot box snatchers?

Your Zombie rank surpasses Lt.Gen.

How a human being will support lawlessness amazes me.

Tomorrow, if it continues we start crying.

We want to get it right but by the rule of Law.

If Nigerians wants ballot Box snatchers to be shot and killed, they should tell NASS to promulgate the Law.

For now, Brutai should face NE and Kano with the report by foreign observers that bombs have been planted.

This is how useless this party has become. Pdp drags Nigerian army into politics by telling them not to follow or respect the president's orders to ensure elections are not rigged. The army responds that it is quite unfortunate a party that hope's to become the party at the center could give such an advice, then next thing, the useless devilish entity says the army shouldn't dabble into politics.

Pdp is more useless than a discarded tampon.

Sir, you should know that it is not the duty of the army to ensure elections are not rigged. Apart from that, the President is an interested party in the elections and if the army is involved, the army is bound to take sides with him which is also the biggest of all riggings at intimidating gun point. Don't pretend you don't know that the President himself wants the election to favour him, by hook or by crook.

The order by Buhari that the army should deal ruthlessly wit ballot box snatchers have really done a big damage to this pdp Dubai strategy as they could not hide their pain since that order was given.

But meanwhile just as someone said in one post, if you know you are missing your ancestors and you want to meet them in heaven try snatch a ballot box on Saturday
