Yep, delivery-wise m.i is more friendly, but probably u haven't heard mode 9 well  enough to know he's way ahead m.i in terms of lyricism

Feel this

Bootleg my Cd, i know u guys are thieves
And i'd b going against pirates like kaizers chiefs

DOWNTOWN SWEETLOVE
I love career gurls, clean and proper working class
Cos they never let a B.LOW JOB pass
Got head from one chinese chick who whoops A.S.S
Didn't come fast but her tongue-fu was good
I came hard enough to split ten stacks of wood
I'm hood, thats why i'm always getting head [superpunchline, many pple just will never decipher this line]

First name sege, second name wale,  not the one on the single with lady gaga/but i could make u ladies go goo goo gaga/ search the net to decipher that google gaga

WE DEY VEX
I punchline like people queuein for mixed drinks,

your artiste selections  is weaker than sand castles/no pablo, u pick arseholes (pablo picaso),

Knock boots like a coblar,

Beat u to a live line till u stop breathing/me and u is prime numbers we not even

RHYME TIGHT
We balling at the top of the table in first division/your gurls fine i'm a  keep her (keeper), play your position

Etc etc
Non has more album & mixtapes as 9, and he has continously wrote excellent lyrics, interwoven with enough punchlines. Now, one thing u must understand is m.i just has one album, and artist do dissappoint after 1st album, so don't yet be turn to that direction, although he could turn out with an improved lyrics, but so far nothing he has put out comes close to mode 9's works (even though dudes say mode 9 has soften a bit)
Mode 9 is accepted but still underrated
If actually u know how to decipher lyrics, decipher this little line to bits

I'm hood thats why i'm always getting head
Re: M.i - Naija's Greatest Lyricist Ever! by Kinezeala(m): 10:48pm On Aug 27, 2010
yep i have followed mode 9 right from the jam that brought him to limelight - cry
'they were best friends from the tender age of seven
both raised to have love for God in heaven
two young men always topping their pairs
their parents never taught they would bring home tears
seperated
then they met in college
pursuing knowledge'
But you see M.I is just more of a continuation of mode 9 i.e he picked it up from where mode 9 stopped.
He's just a more complete rapper/lyricist in that he's gat an extra-ordinary ability to lace his rap with
1.better rhythm and tune.
2.mode 9 is more of a very conservative rapper - hard core. This is where M.I took it all cuz he's very versatile,he's relevantly transitional ,he knows exactly what to fit he's rap perfectly into any kind of song, even country music.
Take a look at what he did with Timaya's life a naaga ga ga!i mean i never thought M.I could ever get featured by Timaya.
'i remember when guys couldn't toast
cuz to toast
you need bread 'nd the bread wasn't close
and the clothes
that we pose
with
was from yaba bend down 'nd so no chicks
. . .
Google M.I
I gat so many shows they call me the event guy'

check am now.

Modenine study dictionaries and thesaurus to write Raps
It is not inborn in him,
he uses rhymes people really feel deep,
and he spend so much effort trying to drop metaphors,
M.I does it easy and never lacks what to say,

Most mode9s rap culd be fit into one song with chorus seperating different verses,
ba message,
