I will wager 1 million that this is the most prominent grammatical infelicity this season. For hardly would you hear 2 people converse about politics in English now without both using the word "CAST", albeit, wrongly. The word CAST is an irregular verb, hence defies the normal conjugation rules. Thus: It is wrong to say "Have you CAST ED your vote ?" It should read "Have you CAST your vote ?" The second one is ACCREDIT Some often wrongly say "ACCREDITATE." And the past tense is ACCREDITED, not ACCREDITATED. Feel free to add corrections, if any as I am not immune to solecism! Thanks! 1 Like |
