A former presidential aide, Laolu Akande, has expressed his disappointment at the immediate past Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.

Akande, who was the spokesman to former Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, wondered why Wike, now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, cannot manage his own anointed governor.

Laolu hailed Wike as the second most influential politician in Nigeria at the moment, but regretted that the former Rivers Governor has failed to carry himself the way expected.

.ng reports that the political crisis rocking Rivers State took a new turn this week with the demolition of the State House of Assembly Complex and defection of 27 members of the assembly loyal to Wike, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

This is despite the attempt by President Bola Tinubu to broker peace between Wike and his godson, Governor Fubara.

“What is happening in Rivers State is very disappointing. Look, a lot of people had deep respect for the FCT Minister …you can easily see that Wike was the kind of guy that got it done and he got the reputation,” Akande said on Channels Television.

“He was called Mr. Project and all that. There’s quite a bit of political regard that you’ve to give to Wike. I think in this country today, after the President, Nyesom Wike is the most prominent politician.

“So, when somebody has attained that level of political relevance, it means you really have to carry yourself with a lot of grace, with a lot of measured management of the expectations around you.

“It is disappointing that the FCT Minister is not managing his own anointed governor and the responsibility is more on him than the governor. Wike is the senior partner in this matter and it is not good for him,” he added.

He should reduce drinking and with this he may see that he is a mere appointee who has no power beyond the ministry he is serving.
Fubara a silent warrior is taking charge of his state and doing all that is needed to be done to position the state in the part of prosperity.

Who made him second most prominent politician? Story. They kept praising him to his doom until he felt he was God. Fubara has crippled his structure and heaven won't fall.

Fubara activated the mandate of Renewed shege , every manchi in his cabinet began to take cover.

This statement alone by akande has shown that Tinubu is a wacky politician. A smart politician wouldn't have overestimated wike.

He overestimated wike and misjudged the political environment he is coming from, thinking Rivers is Yorubaland where they baptize their helplessness and docility as sophistication.

Wike has never been smart or strong, he plays politics of betrayal instead of strategy. Betrayal is a one way game; if you betray someone, make sure you will never need their help again. Therefore, when you rise by betrayal, your fall will be epic.

He betrayed Amaechi

Betrayed the rest of the Igbos who were his major base in 2015 and 2019

Betrayed BIAFRAN freedom fighters who believed he was fighting for freedom too

Betrayed ethnic minorities in River state through marginalisation.

Betrayed rivers voters during presidential election.

Time to receive his own.

God fatherism has been a Nigerian thing not a Yoruba thing but the Yoruba politician and masses are weak, docile and too slavish in mindset to confront it unlike in the typical Igbo political environment where former governors are immediately confined to the garbage dump of political oblivion once they try to dictate to the incumbent. I'm happy south south are learning from Igbos.

I think it all started with Awolowo and Akintola.
The thing didn't play out well.
It was revived the days of Second Republic and caused war in the defunct Ondo state and Unity Party of Nigeria between Ajasin vs Omoboriowo and remotely their godfather, Awolowo.

Again, revived under Obasanjo, Then now.

The nowadays politicians want a departure from the norms.

Laolu Akande who literally just returned to Nigeria from the diaspora for a political appointment by former VP, Prof Osinbajo, and since he returned to continue his practice as a Journalist, unlike Sowore, has never contested a single election , Laolu Akande is now the go to person for politics. Smh

Wike underestimates the power and influence of a governor and even if he is a 10 yrs old boy. Moreover he has allowed greed and impatience to cause him this problem. Take a clue from how Tinubu managed Ambode and he waited for the last minute to dish him his pay back.
