the problem here is why is the Chief of Staff be the one to write and sign off such an important National letter ? this is clearly above the Job Grade and pay grade of the Chief of Staff... It would have been better if it was signed off by the Minister of Petroleum .

Exactly my thought. Unfortunately, we don't have Petroleum Minister and nobody should mention Ibe Kachukwu here.

Explain to me what knowledge NNPC has in drilling and refining oil? Buhari is looking for more avenue to loot some more after he's looted the billions he's gotten from all those Chinese loans. I laugh whenever I hear or read about Buhari's so called integrity. The meaning of integrity have been insulted and raped so many times by Buhari's supporters.

Yes, Chief of Staff can disseminate President's directive but such needs to be signed by the president.

He is asking you what is the business of the Shell Oil Company based in USA that you quoted, with SPDC that is the Nigerian subsidiary of the Anglo-Dutch giant Shell?

If you had understood what you posted, you will know that Shell is the wholesome owner of Shell Oil Company of USA, just as the same Shell is the wholesome owner of Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria.

So what is America's business with SPDC that is owned by Shell, the Anglo-Dutch company?

Dude, you have an acute comprehension problem.

Simply put, what you posted implies that Shell Oil Company which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Shell the Anglo-Dutch giant, is based in USA.

Similar to SPDC which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Shell the Anglo-Dutch giant, is based in Nigeria.

Shell Oil Company of USA has no business with the oil wells that are owned by SPDC of Nigeria. Just as SPDC of Nigeria has no business with oil wells owned by Shell Oil Company of USA.

The relationship between both American and Nigerian subsidiaries of Shell, is that they are subsidiaries of Shell, the Anglo-Dutch oil company.
To cut all these long story short... Those oil wells will be given back to shell.... But in d disguise that is nnpc running it... Can nnpc run an oil well?

Shell Oil Company US is a subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell

SPDC NG is a subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell

Shell Oil company and SPDC is both owned by Royal Dutch Shell.

Royal Dutch Shell is the parent company and is a British-Dutch Oil company with headquarters in the Hague.

This is what Chavez did in Venezuela.

NNPC that can not manage a refinery or even to import fuel is who this goat wants to hand the highly intricate and efficiency driven oil drilling operation.

Once they loot all the money for drilling, let me see where they will get money to maintain operations.

And you think that is what cause problems in Venezuela? Stop this hate orientation of yours for once and start being objective with government sincere decisions. The US never wanted Venezuela to be autonomous which never augur well with Chavez, when the US govenment see his rebellious act to their policies they stoped oil purchase from the country and being a country overdependent on oil, it find it difficult to survive. US used to purchase over 90% of their oil before the crises. That is the simple thing that happened.

The only issue I have with the above document is the Chief of Staff issuing an instruction on behalf of the president, without the president's little note/signature to show concurrence.
Do you really think that the GMD would act on the memo without clearing it with the president who appointed him even if the memo carries the president's signature?

So many misleading opinions here. Simple memo but people interpreting it like rocket science some because of simple hatred for just one man PMB are condemning this good gesture from the government. While some don't know but will comment in things they have little or no knowledge about

1. First, the OP didn't use the right caption as it is misleading. The literal meaning according to OP says NNPC to take over ownership of the wells (without specifying which OML or OPL)

2. Back to the memo. It is a directive to NNPC to take over operating ownership of OML11( just one oilfield in Ogoniland) via one of its subsidiaries NPDC. Just like SPDC, NAOC, TEPNG etc, NPDC is into crude oil exploration and production activities but solely owned by Nigeria.

3. NPDC currently operates OML26, 34, 13 etc. They have most of their flowstations in Edo and Delta states. But most of these fields are marginal fields formerly owned by SPDC but not annexed or produced due to reasons like low production rate, problems with host communities etc.

4. Indigenous oil companies like Seplat, Platform Petroleum, Pillar oil, Midwestern oil, Newcross oil, etc are all producing most of our marginal fields today. Thereby boosting our daily production, creating more job opportunities both directly and indirectly, etc

5. So is this a welcome development by the government? Except you are an enemy to yourself and the state. I see no reason why all Nigerians shouldn't be happy with this. For many years now, SPDC has not been able to produce this oil field due to her problems with the host communities. Criminals have been vandalising most of these oil wells in bunkering activities, illegal refining of the crude siphoned, and polluting the environment.

So if NPDC commences production,
1. Most of the indigenes will be employed
2. Social economic activities will increase in the land and more job opportunities both directly and indirectly for Nigerians
3. Nigeria's daily oil production will rise
4. Host state allocations will increase and royalties too. Tax to state government will increase
5. NPDC will provide some social amenities for the host communities as contained in their MoU
6. More marriage opportunities for the local indigenes
7. Business will boom for the oloshos ....lol
8. Illegal siphoning of the abandoned wells will reduce or stop. And etc

So in conclusion we should be happy with this directive.
Also the fact that you didn't vote for PMB doesn't mean you should condemn obvious good news like this.

I am not too surprised with your comments but much more concerned about the 75 monikers that liked your comment. If I may ask, how does NPDC operating an already abandoned OML11 in Ogoniland related to Venezuela's problem? Or better still tell us exactly what Chavez did so we can compare to this simple memo.... thanks in anticipation....
