THE KWANKWASO/GANDUJE CRISIS
.....The issue is not about Kwankwasiyya or Gandujiyya. It is about 'betrayed'. We all tends to forget History so easily! When in 1999 Kwankwaso became the PDP
Governorship flag- bearer, he chose Ganduje as his running mate! Upon their success, Kwankwaso assigned Ganduje the Ministry for LG and two other
Commissioners for Works and for
Commerce appointed by Ganduje. When they lost 're-election in 2003, Kwankwaso appointed Ganduje as his SA at the Ministry of Defence, upon the movement of Akilu Indabawa to the National Party as Youths Leader.
In 2007, Ganduje rebelled against
Kwankwaso and contested but woefully lost the Governorship primaries of PDP. Instead of accepting defeat, Ganduje went ahead to organize the then unpopular 'Yan Biyar' ( the other 5 Contestants for Governorship primaries under the PDP) against Kwankwaso. When they could not achieve their aim of defeating Kwankwaso, Ganduje reversed with his tail between his legs and came back to Kwankwado. In his own magnanimity, Kwankwaso accepted Ganduje back to his fold.
From 2007 to 2011, Kwankwaso secured a political appointment for Ganduje as the Executive Secretary, Lake Chad Basin
Commission, which he has been up to the 2011 elections. After winning the primaries in 2011, Kwankwaso still, against all logical reasoning, chose Ganduje as his running mate! Not only that, Kwankwaso upon winning the election proper, gave Ganduje
three Commissionership positions; viz, Ministry for LG for himself, Environment for Abdullahi Abbas and Land for Nadu Yahaya.
In 2015, Kwankwaso against all logical reasoning, anointed Ganduje as his successor!
Please and please,!!! what else would Kwankwaso do for Ganduje in life, to demonstrate or prove that no one howsoever is a king to Ganduje as far as he is concerned!
Coming back to the incident of the
condolences. Kwankwaso stayed away from Kano for close to 10 months. Probably and I believe so, to allow the new government settle down unhindered. He also was probably allowing the government some space so as to consolidate on the achievements so far recorded and organize its programs. Let's not forget in a hurry the reverred position Kwankwaso had in Kano, due mainly to the number of lives he touched through his various skills acquisition programs that are now being emulated by various State governments across the length and breath of this country Nigeria eg Kano is stopping the free feeding and free uniform to primary pupils while Kaduna is adopting it!
So a person of the calibre of Kwankwaso that touches the lives of the generality of the masses and the down- trodden in Kano State is not expected to move freely in Kano without attracting a large crowd! In a situation whereby a million or more people are hailing their benefactor,
controlling such a crowd is an impossibility. Where was Kwankwaso when Ganduje was severally booed and pelted? Just recently, Ganduje was booed and pelted at the Stadium in Kano and it was all over the social media! Before then, he was booed and pelted along Hadejia and Kurna roads.
Do not forget that Ganduje did not offer Kwankwaso a single political appointee as a thank you gesture neither did he refer to him for any clarification on any matter in respect of their stewardship together.
Haba Malam!
