Safe Motherhood Initiative - Role Of Nurses, Midwives, Community Health Workers by h2wstore: 11:45pm On Mar 18, 2019 |
Safe Motherhood encompasses a series of initiatives, practices, protocols and service delivery guidelines designed to ensure that women receive high-quality gynecological, family planning, prenatal, delivery and postpartum care, in order to achieve optimal health for the mother, fetus and infant during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. Unsafe motherhood consists in maternal mortality or morbidity due to preventable pregnancy and childbirth-related causes. Although, most maternal and infant deaths can be prevented through safe motherhood practices, millions of women in Africa are affected by maternal mortality and morbidity from preventable causes. Health2Wealth model of SMI provides a continuum of care ranging from maternal to neonatal health coverage. This Thursday, we will be looking at the role of Nurses, Midwives, Community Health Workers, Health Promoters, CHIPS, Village Health Workers & Digital Technologies in creating awareness on Safe Motherhood Initiative to prevent maternal & infant mortality.
