1 - Tenure has nothing to do with sourcing for money to fund budget

2 - According to you or your source each senator openly earned over 1 billionaire every year, because nobody is beaming their searchlight on the executive that doesn't mean they the president and his vice earn lesser that a senator. Have you seen where a MD of a company earn less than the directors in the company?

3 - well you have point here but how many time have you and me query them for not being at their duty post? 13+ million basic is too much for the executive, if a senator is earning that how much do you think the executive is earning?

N20 million basic

but there are only 2 execs
110 senators!! (& what of House?)

tenure is everything.
if they know they will leave soon, they will do some work & feel less comfy

y wil Deputy return after 16 years,
is he d only leader in his constitu?

What if they leave the VAT the way it is and reduce the salaries and allowances of those senators and ministers?
A good idea to start with but unfortunately even if you stop paying them any kobo, Nigeria will still need to find other ways of generating revenue to handle the ever-increasing expenditure (e.g more schools to cater for the population). Maybe is the time the country start discussing our population growth rate (with a median age of 17/18), we might need to stop this CHINA population chase/comparison

Fix the roads.
Fix the Internet.
Provide 24/7 electricity.
Cut salaries of senators.

Those are Nigeria's problems, not VAT or minimum wage.

"There may be the need to make some changes, especially the VAT, in order to fund the minimum wage once it is announced."

Senator Udoma Udo Udoma, Nigeria’s Minister of Budget and National Planning, has given indication that the government may need to increase Value Added Tax (VAT) to fund the new national minimum wage.

He stated this on Tuesday when he appeared before the Senate Committee on Finance at the hearing to deliberate on the new national minimum wage of N30,000 approved by the Senate.

The Senate had approved the new figure at its plenary on Tuesday.

Speaking before a panel led by Senator John Owan Enoh, Udoma noted that the Technical Advisory Committee on the minimum wage would submit its report to President Muhammadu Buhari during the week.

“The current minimum wage of N18,000 is really too low. It is difficult for workers to manage on that amount. The President supported a review but it is important that as we are reversing it, we should be able to fund it. It is in the light of this that we would be coming to you (Senate), because there may be the need to make some changes, especially the VAT, in order to fund the minimum wage once it is announced,” he said.

Remember the statement "the next four years will be tougher"? How many times will it be said that the APC has no clues how to move the Nigerian economy forward?

What the difference , cos if u increase tax, prices of commodities will shoot up cos eg if egg was sold per crate as 200 naira and your income was 18k then due to increments of tax egg price shot up to 400 naira and you increase minimum wage to 30k then that means you need more purchasing power to get same crate of egg again. So the increment of minimum wage is just a mirage

We have written this more than once here since last year.....
Hope it can get to the right sources.

HOW NIGERIA CAN PAY MINIMUM WAGE COMFORTABLY..........

1. Abolish SECURITY VOTE in NIGERIA. Nigeria will pay N45,000 minimum wage comfortably.

2. a) Abolish CONSTITUENCY PROJECT FUNDS
b) Reduce number of ADVISERS to SENATE PRES(2), HOUSE SPEAKER(2), GOVs(4), PRESIDENT(5), VP(2)
c) Reduce current ALL Political Office Holders PAY CHEQUES by 51.5%, without exception
d) Do away with special remuneration to POLITICAL ADVISERS & PUBLIC SERVANTS e.g; Purchase of Private Vehicles, Houses, granting Govt paid Vacations, paying for 1st & Business Class Transportations, etc, etc...
e) Abolish payment of OVERSEAS MEDICAL BILLS for Political Office Holders.
f) Eliminate PRIVATE PRACTICE in public workforce
g) Eliminate participation of Public Workforce in Partisan Politics.
h) Institute EMPLOYMENT BY MERIT, and eliminate UNDEREMPLOYMENT.
i) Review and eliminate allocation of Govt paid POLITICAL AIDES & SUPPORT STAFF to Political Office Holders.

With (1) + (2) Nigeria would pay a minimum wage of N65,000 comfortably

3. Move Nigeria MORE to Private Sector Driven Economy
a) Privatise ALL MOST of Federal Govt PARASTATALS & reduce Federal Direct Funded AGENCIES to 68% of the present.
b) Privatise ALL of STATE Govt PARASTATALS & reduce State Direct Funded AGENCIES to 19% of the present.
c) Reduce current DIRECT LABOUR JOB participation by 49%
d) Encourage more Working Hours until Nigeria economic stabilizes
e) Discourage UNIONISM in Public Workforce

With (1) + (2) + (3), Nigeria would pay a minimum wage of N101,500 comfortably.

4) Institute DEATH PENALTY to proven THEFT OF PUBLIC FUNDS no matter how little, and LIFE Jail Sentences for COLLABORATORS.

With (1) + (2) + (3) & (4), Nigeria would pay a minimum wage of N203,500 comfortably.

GOD BLESS OUR PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI.
GOD BLESS NIGERIA

Why not send this to your demented president cool

ordinary salary earners pay the bulk of income tax globally. The work of government is wage regulation
