Once everyone is metered, there would no longer be free money (except the backlog of over inflated crazy bills) and the discos would be forced to transmit generated electricity power or they lose huge revenue going forward.

See this people...are u guys aware that indigenes in the North don't pay electricity bill? Indigenous areas have more light and pay next to nothing while non indigenous areas pay to the ceiling with little or no light. The power sector should be fully privatised and let's see if things won't change. Just like the Telecom sector you don't expect MTN to give network to one area and give none to the other area cos they need to pay their workers salaries. If they don't provide network to the areas who uses and pay for their services then they would be out of business..this is not a record science nau

Discos are distribution companies. They sell electricity. The FG is responsible for generating and selling that electricity to the Discos.

But the FG has been blaming them of poor electricity of late even though they are not at fault.

And the FG knows this. But incompetence wouldn't allow them do the proper thing.

Seems like the Discos are tired of getting the axe for something that is no fault of theirs.

The only mistake they made is not asking Fashola too to sit up.

From 1960-2019 we are still talking about "slow and steady" What is stopping them from developing the power sector with aggression ...Atleast try to be neutral on serious issues that makes the country lag behind in terms of development..

Put the prepaid meters in the open-market (as much as we have phones/cable decoders in the market), and DISCO can shut up. Nigerians will walk into licensed stores and purchase meters (cash and carry) as much as they need.

Only the gullible do not understand your game after all the deliberate sabotage capitalizing on the power minister’s limited knowledge about the workings on generation and transmissions to offer all sorts of excuses for rejecting generated power only to prefer issuing crazy estimated bills. In other words, you fraudulent discos are making so much free money as long as you issue estimated bills for power you refused to transmit to the people. The result being that power supply would only improve at the high end users where the whole area is metered, but much worse where estimated bills are being issued. It is not rocket science for those that are intelligent!!!

The more pathetic aspect is that you have projected and built-in enough illegal charges into the crazy bills, and you now force the users to pay (or get disconnected) when they eventually get prepaid meters. ROGUES trying to sound intelligent!!!

The government should monitor the activities of the discos because they will never support the independent meter companies but would rather frustrate them.

The Efcc should investigate both the NERC and the discos and all their evil saboteurs that benefit from the epileptic electricity supply to see the crazy money they made from crazy estimated bills!!! The NERC is very complicit for the fraud to have continued for so long.

The legislature should pass a bill writing off all the crazy estimated bills, and watch these rogues scream blue murder! Wicked souls!!!

Supply us meter before talking of increasing the tarif.

Does it mean STABLE electricity is only generated during these periods?

Or the inability of the said companies to fix or replace broken down transformers is due to the consumers' ignorance.

Lol, funny guy. DISCOs do not have storage capacity for electricity, they distribute it immediately it is fed to them. So it is not like there is some where they are storing the power and refusing to give it to you. If you happen to get some unusual level of constant power supply in a stretch, and at a period when an event is taking place, know that else where some others are being denied their fair share of power to make it possible.


You are right that failure to repair bad equipment by DISCOs contribute to the power problem, but those are just peripheral causes.
