The Nigeria music scene is highly competitive and you just have to be able to adapt to changes In order to stay on top , pasuma is still there after almost 20years on top of Fuji music scene and that is because he can blend and adapt to any change in the music industry , artistes like ruggedman and co who faded out very fast after maybe 2- 5 years just couldn't adapt or blend with the changes in the music industry. That is why kudos should be given to artistes like 2face and davido who have stayed up there for years, it is not easy.
The only constant thing in this life is change and if you can't blend in with the change then you will be pushed aside

That number has no place in statistical reasoning. It's too small to hold any significance. Those are the outliers. So, one could still argue that artists don't reign forever.

Plus, we wouldn't know for sure for Shakur and Marley. They died when their gener of music was at its peak.

you are partially right on the issue of making hay while the sun shines but the only single reason why one cannot forever is AGE. Apart from this there is nothing stopping someone from reigning throughout his entire active years. Ruggedman didn't even last up to 5 years ,King sunny ade is still churning out hit songs and still doing shows and still very relevant but age has slowed him down.sikiru ayinde barrister was also churning out hit albums till he died , you can't live or be young forever but you can be very much relevant in your feild for a very long time. Only failures use this ruggedman phrase in order to justify their shortcomings .
