Suanu's Blog A hardworking and publicly loved traffic officer who received a merit award last year from Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State is currently homeless. Suanu's Blog recalls that the man identified as Friday Opurum known to be controlling traffic at the D-Line axis of Portharcourt was decorated with the Rivers State Merit Award (RSMA) last year by Gov.Wike at a well-attended state function. Suanu's Blog gathered that apart from the award, the Rivers State Government also made several other promises to him including to give him a convenient apartment and an undisclosed sum of money. However, those promises were obviously not kept as online pictures show the man and his family been thrown out of their home for their inability to renew their rent. Mr.Opurum was reportedly thrown out of his one room apartment at Oroworuko, along Aba Road by the landlord for his inability to pay his house rent since June 2018. Despite being homeless, Suanu's Blog further gathered that the troubled traffic officer was still seen directing traffic at his usual location inside D-Line. He is currently urging Nigerians to come to his aid in solving his accommodation problem so that he can have a cover for himself and his wife. So? Wike should pay for his apartment? So once one is recognized for merit in the performance in ones job, money and accommodation must be attached to the award? Every recognition must be monetized? What of car? Shouldn't he get one also? |
