Why couldn't the army/ground forces engage the rag tag band with sub-par weapons after the bombs drop?

I don't want to sound pedantic but the wording of this headline is wrong.
First it presupposes that Boko Haram actually carried out the airstrike which isn't so.

Secondly, it attempts to suggest that the airstrike was against Boko Haram meanwhile it was against armed bandits.

I read the report and saw the video the day it was released. NAF clearly stated that the strike was against ARMED BANDITS.

by this time next year.., "Repentant Bandits" will be joining the Nigerian Army/Airforce....
