If I show you a graph of inequality in UAE, you will run. The wealth there is enjoyed only by the ruling royal family and their cohorts. It is actually written into their laws that x.x.x billion dollars goes to Sheikh this or Sheikh that's account every month.

The ONLY thing that stops the people starving is that they are few in number, so are easily fed.

so because ur uncle tinubu is in the 1%, we should also adopt their useless style of inequality

will u like your thunder boiled or fried?

But Lagos is building Eko Atlantic, and it's not funded by oil money, and Lagos is not an oil-producing state.

The VERY SAME THING you see happening there in Dubai is what is happening here with Lagos and Eko Atlantic. But you are too fixated on worshiping white people and Arabs to notice developments in your own backyard.

What percent of Lagosians are living in extreme poverty or even poverty as compared to people in Dubai. Development is not about sky scrappers and huge buildings but the quality of life citizens in a country enjoy. This is why the Human Development Index which focuses on health, education and income distribution is the most valid measure to ascertain development.

The HDI in the UAE is .86 and it is ranked as the 34th best country.

Israel with no known resource is ranked 22nd.

Singapore a small patch of land composed of racially diverse people is ranked 8th.

Nigeria comes up one step behind Zimbabwe at 157. As bad as Robert Mugabe was as a leader and as useless as the Zimbabwean dollar is, the average Zimbabwean has a relatively better quality of life than the average Nigerian.

Venezuela that nigerians foolishly look down upon are ranked at 78.

We have no excuse to be doing this poorly other than mass misplacement of priorities and general illiteracy.

You don't compare Dubai with Lagos. You compare it with Eko Atlantic, which is our own version of Dubai coming up. Afterall before they built Dubai, the area was filled with poor cattle herders and donkeys.

Israel with no known resource is ranked 22nd.

Shush.. Israel is a tiny population of under 8 million and they receive BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN CASH every year from the US.

Singapore a small patch of land composed of racially diverse people is ranked 8th.

Singapore is one of the 'tiger economies', a set of 4 Asian nations specifically chosen by the western allies after WW2 to act as capitalist bulwarks against communism. These nations were given unprecedented access to western markets, interest-free loans, outright monetary grants, and massive transfer of technology. This was how they became 'tiger economies' (Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong).

The proof that they are artificial, is that their neighbours and brothers who were not chosen by the west, are still wallowing in underdevelopment. Places like Cambodia, Burma, Nepal, Mongolia, Laos, East Timor, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka etc.

Nigeria comes up one step behind Zimbabwe at 157. As bad as Robert Mugabe was as a leader and as useless as the Zimbabwean dollar is, the average Zimbabwean has a relatively better quality of life than the average Nigerian.

A lot of these low indices have to do with the situation in the north. It's not really fair to rope in southerners in all these your doom and gloom statistics.

WHAT A LOAD OF RUBBISH

This is how you dumb goats end up in slavery in Libya.

UAE is not rich today because they have ''incorruptible leaders''. THAT'S A LAUGH.

Go to Millionaires Row in London, and places like Beverly Hills and Monaco, and see how much billions of dollars 'oil sheikhs' from the UAE, Saudi, Kuwait etc, have siphoned from their countries to enrich themselves and live like kings.

The ONLY THING that saves them from popular revolt is the vast oil reserves they hold, much larger than Nigeria's - plus the TINY populations they have in their countries. UAE for instance has less than 10 million people, with 3 times Nigeria's oil and gas reserves.

So they can afford to loot the oil revenues while still keeping their populations happy.

So kindly USE YOUR HEAD next time before posting ignorant rubbish online.

Sorry since u don't like the truth, u will continue to wallow in suffering....useless Nigerian... hopeless...

Most of what you wrote are excuses for failure and you know this as well as I do. Your most factual statement was in your last paragraph.

The question I pose to you now is how do we move this nation forward when a certain region does not value the basic matrices of development?

Without purpose driven leadership can we change the perceptions of core northerners? This should be you main warry

Today, our problem is followership.

I've asked countless times on this forum, what policy of government today stifles growth.

What policies should be done away with and how quickly.

They are not 'excuses'. They are facts. For instance if Israel didn't receive billions a year from the US, they'd be as poor as Yemen, next door. YOU are being naive by simply looking at nations as ''successful'' and ''unsuccessful'' without looking at HOW they arrived at the ''success''. For you, they simply got successful because they are more intelligent, hardworking etc, and the ''unsuccessful'' nations are that way because they are bad, corrupt, stupid, etc.

But that is what we call layman analysis. A very simplistic way of looking at the world.

To analyse nations, you must be familiar with structural sociology, economics, history, and geopolitics, and address their various idiosyncrasies within those parameters.

Saying Israel would have been poor if not for US billions shows how ignorant you are about Israel.

Israel is rich because of her technological prowess.

Israel is called, a nation of start ups.

What policies should be done away with and how quickly.

There is fundamentally no difference between this government and every other government in the past. The core issue Nigeria faces is misplaced priorities which has led to misuse of oil resources.

In 2011 Steve Oronsaye wrote a report on how to streamline the federal government to release funds for development spending such as education and healthcare. Till this day, no government has implemented it because of selfishness and partially illiteracy.

In 2015, the IMF, gave our government similar advice but added that the government should consider increasing taxes to provide funding for healthcare and education, but this government ignored them. Nigerians host the highest number of people living in extreme poverty today primarily as a result of a government that does not know its job. As far as all previous governments and this present one are concerned, once they pay salaries, they have completed their duties to Nigerians. This is gross stupidity and would only hasten the growth of poverty.

Leadership is about making tough decisions. I can vividly remember how university students all across America were protesting for the end of the Iraq war and the return of American troops back home. Students would lie on the ground with red paint on their bodies to symbolize dead soldiers.

US Democratic senators were constantly proclaiming that Bush lied about weapons of mass destruction so he must bring back the troops.

On One evening, Bush's administration created a bill known as the Patriot Act that amongst other things called for an INCREASE (a surge as they called it) in troops to keep the troops that are already in Iraq safer. This idea sounded preposterous, but Bush gave the democrats very little time to go through the bill, so even Hillary Clinton then had to support Bush's bill.

The surge worked.

Everyone in Nigeria is suffering or have any group or tribe been able to deliver basic amenities to their people like good roads, tap water, steady power and of course reliable health care etc... to their people?Tinubu and Buhari have not been able to do that.So they have nothing.

Is there no limit to your insanity? Dubai has a bigger landmass than Lagos, but apparently, we should only compare the whole of Dubai to a tiny strip of land in Lagos with only like 2 completed towers? What kind of dumbass argument is that?

Shush.. Israel is a tiny population of under 8 million and they receive BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN CASH every year from the US.

You've carried your insanity to Israel. Israel's GDP is over $390 billion with over $60billion in exports and has the highest number of start-ups in the world after the US and a high-tech sector in Tel Aviv second only to Silicon Valley: a knowledge economy built on cutting-edge innovation that is the envy of the world. You think the annual $4billion in defense aid by the US is what is propping their economy up? Your jealousy no go kill you sha.

Western capital goes where they expect returns on their investments. They are not running a charity. They expect to get rich doing business and tapping into the depth of the human resources and knowledge base in the sophisticated economies of Hong Kong or Singapore, not Sudan or Congo. Don't expect to be seeing any Rolls Royce or Apple or Boeing or Jaguar or Tesla factories opening up anytime soon in Nigeria. We can barely maintain ordinary multinational department stores and eateries who open here and leave due to the hostile business environment. You're basically calling those whiteys that you hate so much Gods who determine everything in the world by decree and magic. Yet, you get so offended when the resourcefulness of those whiteys is acknowledged. Funny guy.

A lot of these low indices have to do with the situation in the north. It's not really fair to rope in southerners in all these your doom and gloom statistics.

So the North, the largest and most populated region in Nigeria is no more part of Nigeria? We should exclude the North from Nigerian indices?

actually u r wrong. endeavour to use your own brain

sure saudi and dubai etc have greedy leaders too but our problem in Nigeria is the very name Nigeria holding two fundamentally different people together

if north and south were to split today, you would have more accountability in both regions

its because of this unholy amalgamation that Nigeria is doomed.

igno citizenry can hold igbo leadership accountable with an igbo center and

hausa citizenry can hold hausa leadership accountable with an hausa centre

To what limit do you actually think the amalgamation is wrong?

Last time I check, a southern region made of up SE and other SS wud still be seen as another forced amalgamation
Personally for me I do not want to exist in a country where IBO's are the majority
