The mother of the Rivers State governor-elect, Sir Celetine Omehia has been kidnapped! Imagine the level the militancy in the south-south has gotten to. Intelligence reports have it that Sir Omehia was actually with his mum in the village when the boys came calling but his security details were able to smuggle him out but the militants decided to go with his mum. It is a well known fact that the politicians in Rivers are the 'creators' of the militancy problem currently tarnishing the image of the niger deltat and the country. The militants are boys that are well known in the communities as hoodlums but the politicians engage them to carry out private missions during politics. These missions range from terrorising opponents to kidnapping and maiming/killing them. They provide arms and intelligence report for them. A typical example is that of a former minister who was using the notorious Tom Ateke to terrorising his village, Okrika. Now he can not walk the streets of Okrika a freeman due to the hatred he has created for himself from the locals and breakaway factions of the group that he is godfather.
