Some gunmen has attacked a bus plying Rivers State highway, killing the driver, taking all passengers hostage.

According to Sahara Reporters, Jonah Sokolo, a driver with the Abua Odual Local Government Transport Service, has been shot dead by kidnappers.

The kidnappers also made away with all the other passengers in the 30-seater Coaster Bus.

The incident occurred on Thursday evening along Emohua axis of the East-West road in Rivers State.

The bus was heading to Abua Oduah town when the kidnappers ambushed them along the deadly route, which has become road users' nightmare.

Nnamdi Omoni, Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, confirmed the incident but said the details were still sketchy.

Last Friday while travelling to Port Harcourt from Bayelsa around 7pm, just after Elele-Alimini we saw a Sienna parked in the middle of the road still steaming with all 4 doors open, headlights on and nobody inside. And then not too far from there just before Greenville LNG(asca) we saw another Pathfinder SUV parked in the middle of the road with the front doors open, also steaming with logs of wood in front of it and no sign of the driver and the passenger anywhere close, they have obviously been kidnapped and taken inside the thick forest that lies along that route. The most annoying part of the incident is that security agents were seen not too far from the point where both incidents occurred in their usual lackadaisical attitude demanding bribe from commercial drivers...
