Yeah, this is why any smart person who discovers a new money making venture keeps it to him or herself.
Uber is a last resort thing for people in the west, and most people into it drive the cars themselves. But here in Nigeria, one person buys like 5 cars and starts using them for uber. How will it not get saturated.

lmao grin very true...our eyes for money is too much..na so I hear say one old baba get 10 danfo buses..even the transport isn't booming as it used to be

If you're not the driver you wont enjoy it that much. If you're the driver, you could actually make at least 150-200k per month. Car maintenance is on you o.

He can even make 500k monthly

My take:

I believe it's still lucrative. The issue however is that many drivers who are not vehicle owners have learnt a new system. It's called Uber/taxify offline. When they accept rides, they approach the passenger and request to go to the same destination at a bargainable price. The result is that "on the system", they had very few rides, but in reality, they may be making a killing.

I think car owners should invest in tracking technology that captures total distance covered by the vehicles they give to drives operating these taxi services. If the total distance covered is unrealistically higher than the distance summary reported by Uber/ taxify, just know that "your sales girl has taken over the business"

The only business that I know of which you can launch and hand over to a third party and which cannot be hacked (so far) is the betting business. So you can consider opening a bet shop.

You said it all! That "offline" ish the drivers do is a killer to the owners! While I believe most vehicles are tracked, I believe the owners used the barest minimum tracking technology were they use SMS to query the location of the vehicle. What is best suited is a full live tracking solution where the vehicle updates its current location at regular intervals to a server similar to Google map. That way you can not only know the vehicle's location but also the distance it has covered. And for a tech savvy person, all of this can be gotten for almost free.

Hello everyone, i have some money and i think i could invest in this Uber/Taxify stuff, i still have enough money to get a new or neatly used Toyotal corrolla 2003- 2006. I want to know how this works. I am not planning to drive it myself, i am planning on giving it out to someone who will be bringing me money every week. I heard i could be receiving 25k to 35k per week(I don't know how true is this) depending on the agreement with the driver. Secondly, what is not clear to me is the maintenance, who will be responsible when the car is faulty? Also, these days, it looks like more people are trooping into this stuff, i want to ask if it is still booming? Is it a good idea to go into this at this time when Uber and Taxify are everywhere? Thanks as i await your responses.

Uber is even useless now cos you work for them as their commission is extremely high. on Uber you work for them alone

It's only "Lucrative" for those driving it themselves. As for Driver/Owner partnership, well it depends on the driver. But from what I know, it's getting harder to deliver that 25-30k weekly.

Apart from driving your car yourself, another gauanteed way of making your money is to hand over your car to a fleet management company like Pukena Cars & Drivers. They recruit the drivers, manage them on your behalf and remit your money (25k) weekly unfailingly whether the drivers meet up or not. That's their worry, not yours. They have a strong driver management contracts that outs the drivers in check. You can call us for more info. 08168411237

what is the contract term? who maintains the car and servicing? what are criteria the car should meet? and if there is spare parts to be changed who take care of it?

i want all these to be answered.

There is no business that you won’t experience some setbacks initially, persistence and determination is the key. In Uber/Taxify business, you don’t pity, once the driver fail to deliver the agreed weekly return, you collect the car immediately and give it to another driver, don’t entertain any story like my mama die, no clients, etc bla bla bla.. Also make sure you insure your car and also put car tracker. Inspect the car periodically and if the driver is not taking care of the car, you collect it from him.. no stories. Make you prepare an Owner/Driver agreement with its Ts&Cs and ensure the driver adheres to it strictly.
May you live long, May the wind be at your back and you back be in your past. May your kids take all your good and your wife have class.

You're very correct. To be sincere to you. I can't reveal the business I do to the public because before u know it everyone will want to do it which leads to saturation (no more profitable)

How do you cope with the inquisitive idiots who want to know exactly what you do for a living? Since you don't have a "visible" means of income, they conclude that you must be doing yahoo yahoo or something.

I run a very specialised, niche service business and I would be damned if I reveal what I do to any useless pocknoser (strictly need to know basis). But the most irritating part of it all is having to answer stupid questions from fools who want to know what you're into.
