Alhaji-pastor-oluwo as he's widely called, Gbenga Adeboye is a rare-gem the Nigerian Entertainment industry lost on the 30th April, 2003. He died after an ailment suffered from kidney issues.

It still looks like a dream which should never come true some 16years ago when the 'Funwontan' fans heard the death of the Ace-poet. Infact his family members still believes his death wasn't natural. Naij blog correspondent asked one of his family member...
Question:
So what did you suspect might have caused the death of the two talented artistes in the family?

I don’t know. When you are growing in your field, especially in the entertainment industry, you will have so many enemies and you cannot confront the world with what is in the world. You can only confront the world with the name and power of God.
Who would believe his death was natural truly, he claimed to have seen heaven. He described heaven as a place as 'whitish as the inside of egg shell'. He claimed to have seen a 'babalawo' in paradise and yet a pastor burning in hell. Who would disbelief this? He died (or let's say coma) for up to 6hours.

America has tasted the awesome fables of late Gbenga Adeboye which some people even could arguably put side by side with those of Late Benny hill and Bill Cosby.

The reporter probed further by asking....
Question: Gbenga Adeboye used to be versatile in both Christian and Islamic history, how did he do it?

My brother was a researcher and when you do research into a field, you become a specialist in that field. My brother was a very good researcher. There was a time he gave me some money to buy any book on Yoruba for him and that day, I was able to buy about 40 books. The following week, he told me he had finished reading all the books with comprehensive notes on them. He dug into all religions and that was why he was versatile in all aspects.
No wonder he would speak Igbo, Hausa and Yoruba at any given opportunity. He is a great guy 'Gbenga is bad' one lost Nigerian-American said.

It's a popular statement on the lips of many that there is no way we can see someone as good as he is in another century. Well, could you blame those who has that on their lips? Funwontan is a genius.
