Goodluck Jonathan, Scheduled To Speak 6th, Is Missing At United Nations Summit by Nobody: 1:02am On Sep 21, 2010

The High Level United Nations Summit which is considering how to end poverty by 2015 is underway in New York, but Nigeria is missing.

The United Nations Journal shows that Nigeria’s Goodluck Jonathan is scheduled to be the 6th Head of State or Government to address the important meeting this morning. This is significant because the United Nations regards Nigeria as one of the most backward countries when it comes to implementing the Millennium Development Goals.

But Jonathan pulled out of the meeting at the weekend, as Saharareporters reported on Saturday, in order to protect his political interests in Nigeria. He declared his intention to run for the January 2011 election yesterday.

Backing up our Saturday story yesterday, the New York Times wrote as follows, “President Goodluck Jonathan abruptly canceled a trip to attend the United Nations General Assembly without explanation, raising new questions about his hold on power…”

In the story, which was headlined, “New Questions About Nigerian’s Grip on Power,” the Times said that Mr. Jonathan had been expected to travel to New York after formally opening his presidential bid on Saturday.
By skipping this week’s meeting on the MDGs, Jonathan continues recent tradition in which Nigeria’s leaders miss critical UN summits. The international community continues to be concerned about Nigeria’s indifference to keeping her promises to meet internationally-agreed development targets.

In 2000, world leaders gathered in New York agreed on a time-frame of 15 years to implement eight ambitious development objectives known as the MDGs, the first of which is reducing poverty by half by 2015. With only five years to that date, Nigeria has done next to nothing, and her leaders conveniently avoid having to discuss the subject. In April 2009, former President Umaru Yar’Adua, in an interview with The Guardian (Lagos), said Nigeria would not meet four of the targets.

Here is the UN Journal’s indicating Jonathan’s place on today’s schedule:

Sorry but Jonathan can't express himself in proper English. I'm glad he did not go.

But does he do well in Ijaw, pidgin or 'improper' English language? Then he shd by all means go with a 'proper' English interpreter.

He did not go because, IBB and his crew are threatening to plunge the country into war and kill Southerners in the same way it happened in 1966.
The man has to remain behind to stabilise the country.

May the blood of MKO, Dele Giwa and all the innocent souls IBB has consumed make him run mad.

The latest news is that the flip flopper had made a volte face and decided to attend the meeting . . .

Which is more important? Attending UN meetings or protecting your hold on power! Only a fool would choose the first. If he travels to New York and a coup takes place, the UN meeting becomes entirely useless.
IBB and his pro zoning cohorts are desperate and probably planning a security breach hence it is only wise he stays back to control things.
Asides, this is the same useless saharareporters that have in the past critisized him for travelling, now that je is not travelling they are criticizing him also. Saharareporters is a useless tabloid and I have quit long visiting their site.I used 2be one of their biggest fans.

So you stopped being their fan because they have now beamed their eagle eye on Jonathan and his cabal.

That's what he should have done; go with an interpreter to help him out, at least he is fluent in Ijaw.

You see how useless saharareporters is? Very useless tabloid. One minute they say he is not attending, the next minute he is in New York. What kind of media outlet would be so shameless as to say something in themorning and say a totally differnt thing in the evening? You just wonder who feeds these guys with their useless stories!

I really pity IBB and his goons, there is no way now that he isn't going to end up in jail. The only way for him now is to quietly drink otapiapia; no man can hold a nation of 150 million to ransome.

It is time to face down the baboons that have held this country back. The reason for IBB's bad bele is that whole of PDP (North, South, East, West) seems to have crumbled like butter in his palm after the declaration, so IBB and his girlfriend Atiku have been left naked.

Nope! I actually observed they stopped getting credible news articles ever since ribadu and el rufai returned to Nigeria. Most of the credible news reports they got in the past came mainly from the contacts these guys had in abuja. Since they don't feed saharareporters with any more news, the website has become a tabloid.

True!
What can be said for a news agency that is so shameless, it can actually forge pictures of attendees of Jonathans declaration?

It gets worse when you notice that the 4 half unclothed men are really two men! Punch has some pictures with people dressed like this in their gallery, so who knows? We just might find that these two men don't even know the direction to Abuja, but might have been photographed in far away Kafanchan and shamelessly photoshoped unto the events at Eagle Square!
