A "detribalised" Nigerian who turned a blind eye to Fulani (his tribe) Herdsmen menace which started right under his nose but was busy ordering the massacre of over 3,000 innocent women and children in Gbaramatu in the name of smoking out Niger Delta militants.
A "detribalized" Nigerian who appointed his extended family member, Rilwan Lukman, as Petroleum minister in open defiance to the countless more qualified Interested Nigerians.

The biggest fraud in politics is to ascribe detribalization to anyone.

A patriotic and true democratic president that we have ever had. Selfless, Impartial, untribalistic leader that was hailed by people in every nook and cranny of Nigeria. I have never know a full educated list of ministers and parastatals than in his tenure.
May you continue to rest in Jannatul firdaus.

You mean the same Umaru Yaradua who ordered the massacre of over 3,000 women and children in Gbaramatu and the attendant razing down of the monarch's palace in the name of chasing militants was a great man?
The same Yaradua who surrounded himself with the likes of Ibori, Tony Anenih, etc had vision?
Sometimes when Nigerians speak of the dead one is left wondering if he or she wasn't the same person one knew while he was alive.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan, former vice president Atiku Abubakar and the President of the Senate Dr Bukola Saraki, have paid tribute to late former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua who died 9 years ago.

Jonathan who served with Yar’Adua as Vice President and later became president after his death, described the late Yar’Adua as a selfless leader.

He stressed that the former president always placed national interest up and above self or ethnic interest.

“On this day nine years ago I lost a friend, colleague, brother, and boss, President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua. He was a selfless leader who placed national interest above personal and ethnic gains.

“President Yar’Adua was a man of integrity with a humble spirit who always took upon himself the burden of national reconciliation, peace-building, and democratic consolidation.

“He used the opportunity he had in public service to build bridges of love, foster unity and give hope to Nigerians.

“Today, I remember and celebrate him for the works that he had done. Peace he lived for and homes of peace he built. Democracy he loved and democracy he nurtured. We will always remember you for your service. A servant leader truly you remain,” he wrote on twitter.

Also on twitter, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar also hailed the former President as a patriot and a compassionate leader.

For the President of the Senate Dr Bukola Saraki, he extolled the virtues of the former president who was elected in 2007 after President Olusegun Obasanjo.

“Today, I remember the selfless statesman, former President Umaru Musa Yar’adua, who passed on 9-years ago.

“His legacy of integrity as a great leader will always remain indelible in our hearts. May the mercy of Almighty Allah (SWT) continue to be upon him. Amen.

In his tribute, Senator Shehu Sani described the late President as an honest man, a true democrat and one who respects the rule of law.

“President Umaru Musa Yar’adua died on this day nine years ago.He was a honest man,a true democrat, respecter of the rule of law and a humble visionary.May Allah forgive his soul and grant him Aljanna Firdausi,” he said.

With a President like Buhari, you can't help but appreciate a humble, easygoing, kindhearted, sympathetic man like late Yar'adua .

Yaradua was a good president but not without his own flaws.

Like Buhari, those who followed appointments during his presidency would realise that they were skewed in favour of Muslims also. If Yaradua must appoint a southerner or middle belter for any position, it was always in favour of Muslims.

Comparatively, he was better than his Katsina brother and collosal failure we currently parade as president. At least he respected the rule of laws and listened to the people.

A democratic president who refused to implement Muhammed Uwais Electoral Reform Panel Report prepared through a nationwide tour to seek the people's opinions directly?
A democratic president who stood in Ekiti in broad daylight and declared that, owing to the lacuna in the constiution which made a governor's tenure start all over again if he happens to win a court reordered election, the then Governor Oni would make history as the first governor to spend more than 8 years to complete a two term tenure?

How? Where are your reasons?
What exactly did Yaradua do differently as president? All the accolades showered on him will still be showered on Buhari after death. That is Nigeria for you.

And do you know my governor?
If you did, you would not have even compared Yaradua with him.

If you cared to know, that's one of Yaradua's negatives. The kind of deep hatred some of these Fulani political elites have for themselves is unimaginable. Just like you wouldn't see Buhari eulogise Yaradua and vice versa.

Had Yaradua not reversed the sale of refineries to Dangote, importation of PMS would have become history by now.

His overruling of Charles Soludo's Naira redenomination project was another terrible blunder which dragged Nigeria further backwards. The man is just being overhyped.
