13 Reasons Why You Should Never Miss Jumuah Prayer by MuslimHowto: 12:42am On May 10, 2019
Friday is a special day in Islam; a whole Surah of the Qur’an is named after it. A Muslim who knows the purpose of Jumuah would never miss the prayer.

Below are 13 reasons why you should never miss Jumu'ah prayer.

Allaah the Most High Says:

"O ye who believe! When the call is proclaimed to prayer on Friday (the Day of Assembly) hasten earnestly to the Remembrance of Allaah and leave off business (and traffic): that is best for you if ye but knew!

(Qur'an Surah Jumu'ah: 9)

And when the Prayer is finished then may ye disperse through the land and seek of the Bounty of Allaah: and celebrate the Praises of Allaah often (and without stint): that ye may prosper.

(Qur'an Surah Jumu'ah: 10)

But when they see some bargain or some amusement they disperse headlong to it and leave thee standing. Say: "The (blessing) from the Presence of Allaah is better than any amusement or bargain! And Allaah is the Best to provide (for all needs)."

(Qur'an Surah Jumu'ah : 11)

1. Expiation From The Sins

Narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Five (daily) prayers and from one Friday prayer to the (next) Friday prayer, and from Ramadhan to Ramadhan are expiation for the (sins) committed in between (their intervals) provided one shuns the major sins.

(Sahih Muslim)

2. Taking Ghusl bath on Friday

Narrated by Abu Said (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "The taking of a bath on Friday is compulsory for every male Muslim who has attained the age of puberty and (also) the cleaning of his teeth with Siwak, and the using of perfume if it is available."

(Sahih Bukhari)

3. Going To Mosque As early as possible

Narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him said, "When it is a Friday, the angels stand at the gate of the mosque and keep on writing the names of the persons coming to the mosque in succession according to their arrivals. The example of the one who enters the mosque in the earliest hour is that of one offering a camel (in sacrifice). The one coming next is like one offering a cow and then a ram and then a chicken and then an egg respectively. When the Imam comes out (for Jumu'ah prayer) they (i.e. angels) fold their papers and listen to the Khutba."

(Sahih Bukhari)

4. Do Not Run For Prayer

Narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Alllaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "If the prayer is started do not run for it but just walk for it calmly and pray whatever you get, and complete whatever is missed."

(Sahih Bukhari)

5. Do Not Step Over People On Friday:

Narrated by Anas Juhanni (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “One who steps over men’s necks on Friday will be adopted as a bridge to hell.”

(Jami al-Tirmidhi)

6. Remain Silent During The Friday Sermon (Khutbah)

Narrated Abu Hurairah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him said, "When the Imam is delivering the Khutba, and you ask your companion to keep quiet and listen, then no doubt you have done an evil act."

(Sahih Bukhari)

7. A time which Allaah grants request

Narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said while talking about Friday, “There is a time on it (i.e. Friday) at which Allaah grants the request of any Muslim servant who, at this time, happens to be asking Allaah for something” And the Messenger of Allaah (Pbuh) pointed with his hand to indicate that this period of time is very short.

(Sahih Muslim)

8. Reciting Surat Al-Kahf on Friday

Narrated by Abu Sa`id A-Khudri (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever reads surat Al-Kahf on the night of Friday, will have a light that will stretch between him and the Ancient House (i.e., the Ka`bah).”

(Sahih Muslim)

9. Pray to Allaah frequently on Friday to bless Prophet (pbuh)

Narrated by Aws ibn Aws (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Among the best of your days is Friday. So, pray to Allaah frequently on it to bless me, for such supplications of you will be presented to me.”

(Sunan Abu Dawood)

10. Punishment for missing Friday prayer

Narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah said (while delivering Khutbah on his wooden pulpit), “Either some people stop neglecting the Friday prayers, or Allaah will seal their hearts and they will be among the heedless.”

(Sahih Muslim)

11. Friday prayer is compulsory upon every Muslim exception of four.

The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "The Friday prayer (Jumu'ah) is a duty which is compulsory on every Muslim with the exception of the following four persons:

(i) a slave, that is the one who is owned by someone according to the rules laid down by the Shariah.

(ii) a woman

(iii) an immature boy

(iv) a sick person."

[Sunan Abu Dawood]

12. The reward of going early to the mosque on Friday

The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "The person who has a bath on Friday and goes early to the Masjid on foot, and not by a vehicle, listens to the Khutbah and does not do any foolish act while it is being delivered, will get the reward of one year Ibaadah, one year Fasting, and one year salat; for every step that he takes"

[Jami at-Tirmidhi]

13. It is forbidden that a man should make another man get up to sit in his place.

Narrated by Ibn Juraij (may Allaah be pleased with him) I heard Nazi' saying, "Ibn Umar, said, 'The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings be upon him forbade that a man should make another man to get up to sit in his place' ". I said to Nafi', 'Is it for Jummah prayer only?' He replied, "For Jummah prayer and any other (prayer)."

[Sahih Bukhari]
