Liverpool will play Tottenham Hotspurs in this year's Champions League final and as a result it has brought up an argument that the EPL is the best league in the world. That is laughable, the EPL is unarguably the most competitive league in the world but it doesn't cut it in Europe. For the past 19 years Spanish teams have lifted the UCL the most, Spanish teams have lifted the UCL 10 times (Real Madrid 6 and Barcelona 4). England teams have lifted it 3 times ( Liverpool in 2005, Manchester United in 2008 and Chelsea in 2012, an English team will win this year's own as two English teams are in the finals). Italian teams have won it 3 times, German teams 2 times and a Portugal team just once (Porto's miracle under Mourinho).

Looking at it, the first teams from the same league to reach the finals of the UCL in this century were from Spain (when R. Madrid played Valencia in 2000). Then 8years later Chelsea played Manchester United in the first all English final. Liverpool vs Tottenham will be UCL second all English finals since 2000. For 19years now the UCL have seen a team from the same country play themselves in a final 7 times (Spain has 3, England 2, Germany 1 and Italy 1).

Since 2000 English teams have made it to the final 8 times (counting this year's final). Spanish teams have made it to the final 11 times, Italian teams have made it to the finals 6 times, German teams have made it to the finals 5 times, French team once and and a Portugal team just once).

People who know nothing will scream and say EPL is better than LaLiga in Europe. Abeggi. Statistics do not even favour the EPL. The most wins of the UCL by a nation goes to Spain with 18 wins, England with 13 (counting this year's own). Italy has 12. Germany 7, Netherlands 6. France 1. Because two English teams got to this year's final we should not get over ourselves. LaLiga is not our mate in the UCL.

English football fans saying that "football is made in England" is just as noisy as the English press. England nor reach anywhere if footballing nations are mentioned.

FYI only Cristiano Ronaldo have won the Ballon d'or playing in England, that was in 2009 and since then players in the Spanish league have dominated the award. England simply does not cut it, we should rest, enjoy our EPL and keep quiet.
