No. Windows mobile OS died not because it isn't good but because there are no apps. That move would have killed Huawei except they have a massive plan to convince developers to start developing apps for their new OS - something windows could't achieve over many years.


Just look at the quantity of android apps available on playstore and imagine how long it would have taken Huawei to get something half of that.

Huawei's can kiss goodbye to international sales for the next three to five years if they choose to work with their proprietary OS alone. Their expansion has been driven by international sales and I do not see a situation where non-Chinese users will use an OS without the widespread application library or trusted Kernels present with Android.


Their other arms can survive, but their phone sector will die a long and slow death.

Samsung rules outside the USA, Apple rules in the USA, Huawei is just another phone out there struggling for market share like them Tecno and Infinix etc. People trying out Huawei is because of Google. So it was Huawei phones like the Nexus 6P, that helped Huawei gain some traction with customers outside of their safe zone China. Without Google, Huawei can't make it on their own OS, outside of China. And in China they do so well because they are protected by their government and work for their government giving them backdoor access to spy and access information through their devices. But just so you know, the issue here is legislation not Google itself. Labour and expertise could be contracted to China at the expense and agreement of Huawei. Also, most of these phones are produced in China, including the almighty iphones cos of labour cost...

I still maintain that Huawei still have chance now to make alternatives within the 90 days to avoid a repeat...
