This op doesn't comprehend the supreme court judgment. The requirements which the supreme court refers to as the spread is 1/4 of total vote cast in at least 2/3 of the local governments 2 Likes 1 Share |

Since there is no reference to guide us on this, at least that i know of, I think we must wait for INEC to reach its decision. Worst case scenario, we have a supplementary election. 1 Like |

Why all these logics? Supreme Court never ordered a re- run, the ruling was that the candidate with the highest number of votes cast outside APC's votes Should be returned elected, what's the ambiguity there? I know INEC will try to bring in some of their unnecessary 2/3 whatever, but the apex court has ruled and it is final. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Ratello:From the judgement, APC was not supposed to even show up on the ballot papers and so their votes are cancelled. The new total votes cast is the former total minus the 534,541 of APC. From this new balance, PDP is likely to score more than even 75% of votes cast. I hope we don't see another abracadabra on Monday otherwise it will go back to the Supreme Court. 7 Likes 2 Shares |

Udantu:You are right with your analysis but the question is this, does PDP have the at least 25% of votes in 2/3 of the LGAs as required by the constitution? It has the majority vote now, no doubt but it and INEC must prove that it satisfies the other requirement. |

The Supreme Court pronouncement was clear and unambiguous. It has declared the votes for APC as wasted, and ordinarily, such votes are considered as invalid - like you thumbprinted for a nonexistent party. So your calculations must now be based on total valid votes net of those for APC. kahal29: 1 Like |

bbxxxxxx:The truth is that everybody now wants to turn logic on it's head. Logic! The essence of the constitutional requirement of 25 percent in 3/4 is for a great spread of the state indigenes to have a say in electing their governor. And for anybody to imagine that the Suprme Court would seek to punish the over 70 percent of Zamfara indigenes who voted for the APC not out of breaking the law but simply because the APC fumbled their own primaries is quite idiotic to say the least. There is no way that the votes cast for the APC could be disregarded in determining this "spread", required by the law. No way!! That would amount to technically disenfranchising over 70 percent of Zamfara indigenes who did nothing wrong. The Supreme Court wouldn't contemplate that. 5 Likes |

kahal29: Remove that 534,541 votes casted in APC favour from the total of 810,782 as the Supreme Court declared them wasted. And u will have 276,241. PDP's percentage of that remaining votes is 68.58% of the total valid votes cast. So,...are you sure they didn't meet the requirements by Law? 5 Likes 1 Share |

seunmsg:I know u know what u are saying but u don't want to conclude it because of party alienation, what u did not point out is that by removing apc votes from the total vote u are left with pdp votes which has more than 2/3 majority which is needed to win elections in Nigeria, the idea of concealed votes cannot come into play because pdp have the simple majority, is only when the winning margin did not meet the simple majority u can talk about concealed votes. On Monday pdp candidate will be handed with certificate of return. 3 Likes 1 Share |
