From clubs, hotels, and restaurants but it also plays host to many of the world’s best female DJs, many of whom are the house DJs for major clubs, shows and hangouts. Not only is the lagos female DJ talent some of the best around but many internationally-recognized DJs male and female alike pop up in from around the world from time to time to show off their skills as well as experience the blazing lagos Nightlife scence.
In our get Familiar series, we profile most of Nigeria’s top and hottest Djs, Artistes, entertainment moguls and kings of Nightlife. Leading today’s list is Dj Cuppy with an accumulated Instagram following of over 355,000 instagram. Dj Cuppy, daughter of Billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola is perhaps one of the most talked about DJs 0f 2017. The beautiful Lagos indigene started manning the wheels at 16 and has continued to improve on her skills. Previously a resident DJ at the MTV Africa Music Awards Durban in 2014, the official DJ for the 2015 Oil Barons Charity in Dubai, and the first African act to have ever performed at the event. Dj Cuppy though born to wealth has worked her way to the top, proving to be a strong and dedicated woman.
Next on our list is Dj Lambo, Dj Lambo who happens to be Mi’s official DJ and currently the president of CBN (Choc Boi Nation) is one of Nigeria’s most-sought after djs. Becoming President of CBN can be said to be a big win for Dj Lambo considering her journey, where she’s been and possibly where she aims to be. In just over 5 years of moving to lagos, Dj Lambo has certainly built a brand for herself. Previously an OAP at Raypower 100.5FM, Rhthym 94.7 FM and Love 104.5 FM Dj Lambo is one of the few, if not the first female, to head a major recording label.
30 year old Obianuju Catherine Udeh popularly known as DJ switch is a mother of one and a Uniport graduate. Over and again Dj Switch has proven to be one of Nigeria’s high grading female Djs rocking the wheels and mixing dope sounds. Dj Switch who rose to fame after winning Glo’s Xfactor of 2013 is signed to Peter Okoyes’ Pclassic Record label and is currently making waves all over Nigeria with her latest whine single.
Still going strong several years later , the Kogi state born Dj Nana is said to be one of the first female Djs in Nigeria. Through the years Dj Nana has slowly risen and is now regarded as one of Africa’s best Djs in the game. One of her early achievements was that she won the first ever “Airtel/Barcaddi Cool FM DJ Competition” after which she proceeded to master the art of disc jockeying under the tutelage of the legendary DJ Jimmy Jatt at Jimmy Jatt Inc and DJ Dollypzu ( uniosun ) We really aren’t surprised about Dj Nana’s superb and energy filled performances, you know what they say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
