It is on record that Ojukwu ran away.We know this because one of the people who got on the same flight with him to flee wrote a book in 1980 detailing the events surrounding their escape when Biafra was collapsing. That person is no other than the commander of the defunct Biafran army Lt Col Alexander Madiebo. Confirmed Ojukwu fled with his family and friends leaving behind his people to the mercy of the Nigerian army
please can you quote excerpts from the said book, where Alexander Madiebo detailed their escape?

When I get home later I'll do that, but in the meantime, go and read 'The Nigerian revolution and the Biafran war' by Alexander Madiebo who by the way is still alive

Silly trash. No evidence Igbos were ever enslaved by any group in Nigeria.
Rather the Fulanis conquered and enslaved the Yorubas, forcing Islam on them(evidence 1), took ilorin from them.(evidence2)

Yoruba got into Islam through trading with Mali empire and not Fulani or Northerners

And there are evidence of Igala Colonization of Igbo because the Igala claimed it themselves and the traces is still in your culture ( evidence 1)

Obi of Onitsha was also from Benin( evidence of Benin colonization)

Asari Dokubo publicly came out to called you slaves of Ijaw ( evidence 3)

And that picture I posted was also a picture of Igbo being auction off as slaves( evidence 4)

I need it. At least for others who are equally interested.
Moreover, the way you put it seem like Ojukwu ran with his tail in between his leg. If truly you wanted to be objective you will understand that Ojukwu left for Ivory coast because he wanted to save what remained of the Biafrans. Even Alexander Madiebo said as much in his book. But, yet men who had never carried a gun or heard the sound of war will call him a coward.
History has never recorded Ojukwu's exploit as cowardice not even when it is being narrated by his enemies.

The onus lies on you to prove what you said earlier about Alex Madiebo describing how 'they fled'..... dodging it because I said I have read the book doesn't do justice to your claim. Before throwing names around, just know that there are others who are much more interested in truth than false claims.

Danfulani opened two threads yesterday on the same topic. I shut both down. Somehow he must have used a different monicker to pop this thread up having failed yesterday.

To the Ibo guys bashing Yorub on this topic. Very soon the drivers of divide and rule from North will open another thread titled Python Dance and they expect Yoruba to assemble and bash Ibo. Stop it! Learn to spot threads created by Northerners to divide and rule, and then ignore it. Thats how you can defeat their evil. While you are bashing one another, you failed to pay attention to Bills in NASS, some of which will become Law and favor North. Look at these cross-ethnic bashings the way you will view an alcoholic. When you need to do something that in his sober moments will not be possible, you first get him intoxicated and distracted so you can have your way. If you are regular here you should by now know how tospot threads opened by a Southerner, and ones opened by Northerner, regardless of the name disguised in the monicker.

Is this how foolish n cursed Igbo leave Yoruba n face Hausa Fulani that tormented your forefathers, father’s n now you to death?!

You have left the Hausa/Fulani Late head of state, Sani Abacha to focus on Nnamdi Kanu, Ojukwu and the Igbo people. If someone calls you coward now, you will start throwing tantrums.... Face those who persecute you and leave Nnamdi Kanu alone.

The evil one i see there is Diya. Imagine I made you my number two and you dare planned to kill me, death will be your reward.
Lest i forget, Diya should had known the reward of a betrayer under military era.

Would you want to work under a man like Abacha? Would you work for him knowing that for something small he'd sack you immediately and have you replaced? Would you want to work for him when your family members are scattered all over the country, suffering? Would you sit down and enjoy looking the nation with him when you know could actually do something? I don't know if Diya had good intentions, or if he just wanted Abacha's throne, but I know many Nigerians saw him as a hero. For even nursing the thought of deposing Abacha, he became a hero. Not to forget Obasanjo, Yaradua, Ajibade, Chris Anyawu, Mr Kuti, and the many others who were sentenced to death by a kangaroo court.

If you dont like to work for him why not resign? The fact remains that he betrayed his boss, Simple as that.
There are things you dont do at a particular time in life and expect to get away with it. You dont plan a coup under military era and expect a hand shake when you are caught.

Op, you just reminded me of one famous Bini (Edo) man, who said on a national TV broadcast and I quote:

[b]Igbos are the only people that love Nigeria and unite Nigeria freely and genuinely.

When this idiots call Ojukwu (whom I'm not a even a fan of) a coward, I just laugh. Yes he made lots of tactical and logistical mistakes before and during the course of the war by not securing the sufficient armaments through diplomatic overtures to world powers with oil as the bargaining chip, enough to prosecute a long drawn war against a vastly superior Federal side, among other mistakes he made that probably cost Biafrans victory... but calling him a coward (I hope these Afonja mo.rons look up the true definition of that word again before blabbing) is an overstretch of facts. Ojukwu had all the wealth and power to turn the other way when his people were been massacred in the North, he had more than enough not to be bothered one bit...but he didn't, the man selflessly shouldered the burden of millions of Easterners at the time, spent millions of his own personal savings to procure arms, and taking up the mantle of defending the East when invaded by Nigeria : thus in the process engendering some bad relationships with his own father who was vehemently against secession. Do these qualities depict someone who is a coward? Yes he had his flaws (some say he was overambitious and greedy), but even in all of these maybe justifiable criticism remains the prominent fact that Ojukwu stayed with his people and fought, rather than ditch them when the heat was on. During the battle of Oguta which was at the time captured by the Third Marine commandos under Major Makanjuola (Oguta was a few miles to Biafras only airstrip--Uli) at the time, and it's capture mearnt Biafrans would be cut from their only outlets to the world if the Federal troops advanced to capture the airstrip. But Ojukwu would have none of it, it's on record that he personally selected and led the men and officers who went into the battle at Oguta, where the victorious Biafrans made sure no Nigerian solder made it out of that town alive...Ojukwu was the tactical mastermind in that key battle.

At the end Biafra couldn't sustain the momentum, and the people had to force Ojukwu to leave cause the Nigerian troops would definitely have psychologically denigrated the Igbos more if they captured Ojukwu alive(who knows what they would have done to him)? it was only rational and necessary that he left... and you can bet he left a dying Biafra in high style, class, and aplomb... with a full Military send off on a plane to Ivory Coast, and not disguised as a woman as some idiots claim.
