A fortnight ago a Nairalander contacted me over the phone and on whatsapp about his LR4 that would go off in motion and start right back and would repeat such several times depending on the distance covered. I asked if the car had been scanned he replied saying the Technician who works on the car had a Diagnostic tool, I asked for a scan result so I could remotely give my advice. He however said he would bring the car for me to have a look. Over the Sallah Holiday, I gave him an appointment. He came on Wednesday and it was quite pleasurable to meet with him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DmtJoKOIos The noise is clearly heard, a consistent rattle at idle. The TSB is clear and has a prescribed approach... A list of items to be changed as prescribed. The 2 highlighted items are principal for me in every engine job for the 5.0 V8, 5.0 V8 Sc and 3.0 V6 Sc engines 2 Shares

Looking at the codes i found I told the client off the back of my hand that the timing was retarded so also was the timing chain slack........ Opened the engine up and voila; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryJTaMHza64 2 Shares

After opening up the engine first step was to correct the timing for the high pressure side, using the secondary shaft. The oval tool seen in the picture above should go all the way in. However we can see that it can barely fit in.... After adjust it and locking the engine in place with the timing tool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Km4s6bzqiU |

LeJeun3:Nice one, these parts have prescribed mileage for them to be changed some people will rather wait for this to happen B4 the do the needful, thank God it did not damage stuff near it.the BMW E46 has a plastic chain guard which is so brittle that it fails and goes into the Engine was a nightmare to work with. kudos nice one bro 3 Likes 1 Share |
