^^^ HAHHAHA LOL- shocked shocked

This is crazy see how nice the gov and thoose women looking with their banners

these children look like they are receiving awards for being kidnapped.

"Perhaps perhaps. . . " stop giving the shameful situation of this picture an excuse.

If one of your child was in that picture, would you have let them be a victim again? [A victim of pawn in an election game]. It's obvious that none of those vultures care about the children state of mind. They had the time to wear nice clothes, had the time to find those ugly banners. . .  but not enough time to wash and clean those children? Haba!

If one of my children was there and a photograph for the media was being asked of me, in all the clamor, and my emotional state, perhaps i would let a photograph of him or her be taken and then i will take him or her home and celebrate in fine style. How long does a picture take.

i said it on the other tread

thank Goodness the kids are free

hope its not  er cynically coincided with the celebrations

i suspect money changed hands

kids were rescued, but none of the kidnappers apprehended, just as in the case of the journalists?

we cannot continue like this.

it time to shake up the police and the sss

we still have our corpers, some six schoolgirls and several abia citizens and expatriates still in the hands of these miscreants

the army, police and anti terror squad needs to step up their game

there have to be informants , for crying out loud

those were my initial comments in a diff thread

i'm sure teh ransom was paid and they just left the kids in the forest for the team to 'find'

knowing nigerians, these gracious adults probably added to the trauma of the kids by browbeating them

face the camera!

keep quiet!

you cannot see your mummy now!

i even suspect that they may have done all this before informing the parents that they had found their kids

bunch of fat fools preening like its awards night undecided undecided undecided undecided

It's not the length of the time that matters. . .  it's the priority that does.
What was their priority, taking a staged picture or seeing to the children?
The children are not running away, their picture can be taken the next day.

Nigeria and her misplaced priority.

Sorry, but what advantage is there to be gained by taking the picture straight away as opposed to taking it the next day ?

In other words, why is it any less exploitative to take the picture the next day?

You have shown that you lack any type of logic and too stuuuupid to try and absorb anything meaningful.

If that is your sister or daughter there, will you be happy for them to be paraded in public?

Do you have a brain? If you do, please use it before you attempt to answer my question (plus the other one I asked before)

those kids were in the bush for over a week with people who are the scum of the earth. dirty, hungry, bitten by mosquitoes , exposed to all kinds of depravity

the most important thing to the children is to be reunited with their parents

not to be paraded in some cynical photo shoot by some good for nothing govt officials who are probably in n the whole kidnapping business
Re: A Truly Shameful Nation by ada24: 8:28pm On Oct 02, 2010
why is this a topic?

are people so naive to expect more from naija, the photo is a shame but a lot of people have no shame back home so i doubt they see this as an issue - I've looked at the picture over and over and can't help but laugh, one of the women is dressed to kill with matching handbag and shoe and the children have the trauma clearly written on their face and there is not an ounce of compassion from the adults.

people are talking of traumatised children, u think anybody will offer these kids counselling - i laugh in Ibo.

i think think the kidnapping of children and bombing will now become the norm, politicians are more worried about getting their share of the public purse to steal than how the average citizen can live a life of 3 meals a day and being able to afford basic malaria medication.

i tire for our country

Erhmmm how do you know?
What is so 'killing' about the dressing? Because she match shoe with purse? undecided Don't our mothers dress like that? Is it until they wear ashes you would believe they are 'compassionate' or in mourning?

if that is the only issue disturbing you then sorry. as there is a bigger picture lets leave it that the main thing that is shameful is the fact i raised a point about someone's dressing - abeg i'm too tired to fight, if ur offended - sorry.

Why when people go way off to condemn something, they start begging and screaming you look at the 'bigger picture'? grin

@tpiah
This is exactly how I thought you see this - and exactly the same way those adults in the picture see the condition of the kids. They are free - that is the begining and end of it according to you and them. The point is though that while those kids are free, THEY ARE FAR FROM OKAY, and in saner environments arranging a photo op in those conditions and with that level of contrast would be considered callous.

It is a mentality that we really need to change in Nigeria - we see only what is "visible". Those kids, and I must say millions of Nigeria's kid, are being damaged by the way we bring them up. Then adults are surprised when years later this same kids come looking for them in the night or blowing them up or kidnapping.

You keep using words like daft and illiterate - sad to break it to you, you are the blind one. Your ignorance is stunning. When the level of consciousness is limited in this way people tend to you your exact words to describe those who can see what is wrong, or right for that matter.

And the madness goes on. . . . . .

Unrepentant shameless leaders.

In a more responsible and accountable society, those kids will be subjected to psychological therapy, their identity probably not disclosed without family consent. But the foolish leaders we have, subjected those poor souls to the camera.

''I must show off mentality''. I will not bother on their dress style, simply because it is our culture. But the sheer stupidity of that governor in wanting to prove a point is simply jaw breaking .

You're unable to understand much, i notice, not unless every little thing is spelt out for you. Unfortunately, I haven't the time nor inclination to lead you by the hand as if you're a brat. If you're an adult, then i respectfully advice  you  to switch off your PC and go for a long, long, walk because it seems to me you're on the verge of madness. You spend too much time on here trying to brainwash posters most of whom are teenagers. You cant even manage that and you hope to convince and influence Nigerians in general with your psychedelic rantings .

As for your writing on this issue ,which only takes a nano to understand,it is clear that  you are making a big issue out of  nothing. Your views on the photo are only your opinion, not gospel, o.k, don't take yourself so seriously, actually you're the last person that should  do that wink

PICTURE IS SICKKKKK!!!

Please stop excusing one bad deed for another. The pix could have been taken after the children were washed, cleaned, fed and happily reunited with their families. This is awful.

No one says the women in power should not wear "to match" but having these traumatised kids pose with them is the issue here. Even if you did not look at it that way at first, think about it for a second (maybe a minute)

We are not going to have better leaders if we do not change our ways for the better.

Yes, the parents may be so grateful that they do not mind a one minute pose for picture BUT, what is the AIM of taking this pix? Abuse of RIGHTS, They should sue, please. This will tell the ruling class that it is not business as usual.

Any parental permission obtained for the taking or using of this picture? I bet NONE!

We must refuse to be treated like animals for the abuser to stop. Again, some people here will do worse if given a chance.
