50 Nigerians for honours today

As part of activities lined up for the nation’s 50th Independence anniversary celebrations 50 Nigerians will today be honoured by President Goodluck Jonathan.
The awards are to be conferred on Nigerians and friends of the country.

A statement by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Alhaji Mahmud Yayale Ahmed, said the personalities would be honoured for their contributions to the development of thecountry.

Already, letters have been dispatched to them.
The recipients are: Herbert Macaulay (Lagos), Dr. Nnamdi Azikwe (Anambra), Alhaji Ahmadu Bello (Sokoto), Chief Obafemi Awolowo (Ogun), Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa (Bauchi), Chief Samuel Akintola (Oyo), Mallam Aminu Kano (Kano) and Chief Anthony Enahoro (Edo).
