A gas explosion at Spar Port Harcourt Shopping mall, on Wednesday ignited a fire which left at least five persons critically injured.
The incident reportedly happened around 4 :00 p .m . forced the early closure of the mall.

It was gathered that the fire started at the continental cuisines ’ kitchen, a section within the mall, which cooks and serves Chinese and other continental dishes. One of the victims’ skin peeled off like burnt clothes, according to an eye witness.

Exclusive information obtained by naijadriva reveals that out of the victims, two were placed on oxygen in one of the two Toyota HiAce Ambulances and were first taken to Rivers State Teaching Hospital for treatment.
