The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has denied it owns an electronic server used in conducting election.

INEC made the claim on Thursday while responding to the election petition of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate for the election, Atiku Abubakar.

Mr Abubakar and his party are challenging the outcome of the February 23 exercise wherein President Muhammadu Buhari was re-elected for a second term in office.

The opposition candidate who is at the presidential election tribunal is claiming to have won the election based on results allegedly obtained from the electronic servers of the electoral commission.



Initially, INEC responded to the former vice president’s allegation that despite owning an electronic server, the commission did not use it for the this year’s general election.

At the hearing of the petition on Thursday, the petitioners asked for permission to inspect the server of the commission but opposing the demand, legal representatives of INEC at the tribunal claimed the their client does not own an electronic server.

"They are asking us to bring something we do not have,” INEC through its counsel, Yunus Usman, in a counter affidavit asked the court to dismiss the application.

The response of the commission to the application has since generated reactions from Nigerians.

Budget was made for the server, there was never a remark before the elections they wont be using the server, there was even audio and video clips on server usage from Inec officials Corpers were trained to upload result via e-collation and majority testified they did.

How come Inec now says "No Server"....

Lol. The court/tribunal really has to be bold and compel inec to surrender their server for scrutiny. No thief would admit to steal anything if not caught red-handed. Even a secondary school has a server, not to talk about a University. Why inec, who possess the data and information of millions of Nigerians, is denying owning a server is another wonder of the world.

These people don’t even bother to put effort into lying to the public again. Now they’ve taken their incompetence in lying to the courts! Prof Mamood shame shame shame! Shame!!

Inec release your server for inspection case close, 212million was budgeted for your server why telling Nigerians you don't own a server. Nigeria will be great

Nigeria has been a country with no moral values, rule by shameless men with no interest other than to cling desperately to power by all means.

Patriotism is dead, it's just survival of the fittest.

That election needs to be nullified and a new election scheduled.

If we allow that sham of election to remain a determinant of a dispensation, then we have finally surrendered our rights to vote to just anyone who can waste your time under rain and sun while they stuff-up ballot boxes at INEC HQ with pre-thumped ballot sheet. Even those ballot boxes will have identical thump-prints.

i dont know why people cant comprehend just because of political affiliation, in fact it is worrisome, INEC used card reader to accredited number of voters with authentic voter's card, then the number of accredited voters will be sent to the server. but there was nothing to justify that after the election the votes of each political party were sent to any server rather the votes were recorded manually to form EC8. so if inec said no election server it think they are right. the 212 million people are talking about are server for acccredited voters to avoid the fraud of over voting or writing result

Brother pls go and read the OP again.

Inec said it did not have any serve and you are here telling us the type of server they have and the one they don't have.

If u tell us the server they have is only to receive the number of the accredited voters, why denying they have any server. and BTW, these same people came out and told the whole world before the elections they're using server.

We no get "Election Result Transmission Server" But we surely have Card Biometric Server and PVC database.

INEC clearly told Senate and Buhari that electronic transmission of result would not be ready for 2019 has the don't have network in all polling unit, and Buhari decided not to assent to electoral reform based on that.

while you are at liberty to support whom you want to support but as a rational human, there are certain things you should not tolerate by principle. one of them is a crude lie by an educated elder. Elsewhere, we were told that about N200M was used or budgeted for server setup and maintenance. Today, Electronic server has lost its existence. Let look at issues from the prism of conscience and objectivity. Nigeria and her future is beyond PDP and APC.
