I don't know if I should post here as I am still working towards gaining admission into University. In fact I am copying this post from my profile as the original post didn't make fp and I got little reply. I am sorry it's long..

When registering for jamb (my 3rd jamb), I chose Federal University of Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) as my choice of institution not because I loved the School but because I was afraid of not getting admission again so I decided to run away from competition in schools like unilag and Unilorin. My JAMB result came out and I scored 296 and since then, many people, my sec school proprietor, my family members and others have been disturbing me, in fact condemning my decision to go to a school like FUOYE. In fact I had to lie to one of my uncles that I chose Unilorin because they are all saying "how can you go to such a school with your score. Unilorin/Unilag will easily grant you admission". All these had made me lose interest in the school too but I am also scared of changing to these competitive Schools again....I don't want to be at home for another year, It's an unspeakable suffering. Now, I'm just confused. What I hear about FUOYE is not satisfactory at all and that's not the type of school I wish to go in my life...I need advice and I don't know, someone may clear my misconception too

So sorry about your story bro, I really understand your pains.

Have once done jamb like 4times before.

If you will trust me, I will advise you to change to Unilorin.

Unilorin admissions is easier than you thought.
Check this blog www.thebrainyfox.com.ng try to chat with the number on the homepage of the website on WhatsApp.

And ask of Philomath, tell him that you were directed by me, he will surely guide you on what to do to be admitted to unilorin.

Comment if there is anything I can assist you with.

Regards.

Okay. Thank you. But I am hearing that due to high number of applicants that some schools like Unilorin are receiving, students can not change to them this year. Although some people claim to have been able to do it but I think they may have problem registering for post Utme when it's time.

Alright. Good day Sir brainy fox.
I'm a first year student in a state institution. I have this problem of not being able to wake up and read at night. I used to be a fierce night reader during my secondary school days. And that paid off. Got my choice course in my choice institution. I did my last semester and the result is already out which is not to my satisfaction. 4.0. Of which I know is due to the fact that I lost my ability to continuously wake up and read at night. Most of my collegues had first class and I'm like the odd one out.

Now, my problem is how to wake up at night and read. Tho I read quite averagely during the day but that is just not enough. I do set alarm on multiple occasions but I will be the one to switch off the alarm myself. Thinking I will rest a bit for 10min and then wake up only to find myself waking up by 5:00am which all I will be left with is 30minutes preparations before going to school.

The only saving grace I use to have on such occasion is if I sleep during the day of which I can't always have time to sleep in the afternoon. I sleep from 11pm till 5a.m, making it 6hrs of sleep on most days which I think is too much for a student.

Now I'm looking for a solution to the problem cos I want this semester to be fierce.
Thanks in anticipation sir

I am being consistently abused by everyone. From Pastors in church to church members, my course mates, my landlord and landlady - they sit in their room and blab for hours about me, random people on the streets. I mean I get so frustrated and angry everyday.

All for no reason. I can be walking on the streets (note this is in a city) and someone will pass me and mumble mumu to me as they pass. I will be in a public place minding my business and someone I dont know will come in and just be watching me mumbling derogative words till they get my attention. Just this afternoon I was in a nairabet shop just to charge my phone. And there was a random guy who came and sat a distance from me. Few minutes later he started started laughing and I noticed this happend the moment I started chewing on my lips(something I do when I get bored) mumbling words at me like see im mouth. Things like that. In a very bad hateful tone.

I get a lot of crap from my neighbours and landlady because I am a little reserved person. They sit in their room talking shit for hours abt how I am masturbating and shit. I remember one sunday I came out of my room to go to church and one of my neighbours was outside with my landlady. As I greeted her and passed (something I do often) she started saying 'thank God your life de normal as u no they watch porn' 0to my neighbour.

Every time they pass my window they will cough mucus (making a disgusting throaty sound)from their throats and spit it in front of my window.

In church I remember giving testimony in church that was used against me. They were saying things like I was proud when I came in and was trying to contribute. Whrn I stopped they started calling me a fool and shit.

And all this have started affecting my grades in school. How should I deal with them.

This only occurs when a man tries to seek relationship in the confines of others rather than his creator.

Those who are concerned about what people think about them are the slaves of the last person they talked to. This is because they are weighed down by the burden of trying to please others.

Don't strive to look good or prove a point before others; be desirous to please the LORD instead.

Thanks op for this wonderful thread. I have read some comments above and they are really helpful...

Mine is also financial; I need help financially and I will mostly appreciate if you can suggest anything I can do to raise money both offline and online with little or no capital .

And also if there is someone that could assist me with anything to start something, I'd be glad.

Here in school, I got idea of something that would have at least sustain me but the capital is always the problem....

The other problem I have academically have beenvsolved by op .

Once again, thanks for this wonderful thread.

I will start from where you stopped.

Being a writer shouldn't be a challenge to your studies, in fact writing is good and it open you to lots of ideas and also connect you with new people.

What you need to learn is how to balance between your studies and your writing, when do you read? When do you write?, you need to set the time right so that you won't be disturbed.

At times, I use to get writing inspirations while reading, you must just not let both interfere with each other, plan for yourself.

You said you would have wished to graduate as a scholar.

Well, it seems to be too late, but it isn't.....

Being a scholar isn't about your GP alone, but it is about what you know, lots of geniuses have weak GP and lots of average students have great GP.

If you really want to be a scholar, the first thing you must have are dedications and determinations.

At least, you have planned to become a scholar, now believe you can, and work towards it.

The difference between ordinary and extraordinary students is the extra effort made by an ordinary student to become extraordinary

What are the others doing differently that make them exceptionally good?

How many hours are they devoting to their studies?
Find what works for you best!, read read and read. Surround yourself with like minds, those who can assist you academically.

You can achieve this by not just dreaming alone, you've dreamt it, now believe it is possible and work towards it.
Thanks for this bro. But what else can keep a student going if reading one topics and seems not to understand and he or she is reading and doesn't feel like asking a colleague because he believes in his capacity to work things out without relying on others. And if you don't mind can i have your contact so that we can discuss on other social media forum like WhatsApp

What type of business student can start that won't affect his/her study ?

As a student, you can start any business without your studies getting affected, and you might not be able to do any business too.
It actually depends on you.
Before going into any business, try to check your present status and environment, do some verbal and mental survey, know the problem that students are facing and start business on it.

Let's say you want to start a tutorial business, you might not be good enough to tutor people, but you can serve as a middleman for students and tutors.
Write a BC, invite students who will like to tutor other students for money, you will definitely see lots of students that will register to you, then set your pricing, maybe you want to charge 500 per hour, tell them that you can only pay them 300 per hour.
Then write another BC and invite students who need help in one course or another, talk to them about your price and if they agree, pair them to one of the tutors, they will pay 500 to you and you can choose to pay 300 to the tutors depending on your agreement with him.

If you can gain 200 per hour, imagine what you will gain per day.

That's why I do say that universities or polytechnics are the best place to earn living because of our access to wide audience, gaining #100 from 10,000 will amount to #1m.

Find what works for you and make it your second priority....
Your studies should be your number 1 priority.

Wow. Thank you so much sir
