*...blames former governor for Edo APC crisis, others*

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State and former Political Adviser to Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Mr Charles Idahosa, has called for the resignation of his former boss from the position of the National Chairman of APC.

Idahosa who was political adviser to Oshiomhole while the latter served as Edo State governor, noted that Oshiomhole was desecrating the temple of democracy by sponsoring anti-democratic practices.

According to the APC chieftain, “Oshiomhole is to be blamed for all the crisis in the Edo State APC. He has created division in Edo APC and has empowered some legislators-elect to ridicule our hard-earned democracy.

“During Oshiomhole’s 8-year term, he was the leader of the party and we all deferred to him as our leader. How come he is finding it so difficult to allow Governor Godwin Obaseki to superintend over his space as our leader in Edo State?” He queried.

Idahosa maintained: “Oshiomhole has lost control of himself and this accounted for the loss that the APC suffered in some states during the last general elections.

“At the rate we are going in Edo State, the self-inflicted problems of the APC, caused by Oshiomhole are already depleting our influence in the state. Oshiomhole should do the honourable thing and resign now, so that a more politically mature person who is tolerant of diverse ideas and opinions and who can bring members of the APC across the country together, can take over the affairs of the party.”

He advised leaders of the APC across the country “to remember that Oshiomhole’s brand of politics has created more bad blood and ill feelings among founders and very influential members of the party.”

The APC chieftain added: “The APC is losing states instead of winning more, our influence is waning in some APC-controlled states instead of consolidating on our achievements. We are going to have gubernatorial elections in Kogi, Bayelsa and Edo State in the near future and I can assure you that Oshiomhole’s unreasonableness could bring more electoral woes upon the APC, if he remains the national chairman of the party.”

Idahosa further called on members and supporters of the APC to join in his call for Oshiomhole’s resignation, as he lacks the skills to manage the diverse interests in the party, to save the party more crises.

“The APC is not a labour union, with due respect to his achievements as President of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). You need tact, experience, finesse, tolerance and respect for constituted authority to successfully lead a party as complex as the APC. Oshiomhole clearly lacks these qualities as we have seen in the past few months he has been the APC National Chairman,” Idahosa added.
