Prof Awuzie: Why Tinubu’s Billions Can’t Help Him To Be President In 2023 by silverbirdng(f): 11:42am On Jun 23, 2019 |
Former National President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and erstwhile Vice-Chancellor of the Imo State University (IMSU), Prof Ukachukwu Awuzie, has said that it would be difficult for power to return to the Southwest in 2023 going by power equation in the country. According to him, even if the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, brings all the money in the world, he would not be the next President as the position will go to Northeast in 2023. “Before, the Sokoto emblem was ‘Born to rule’; now if you look at the six geo-political zones in the country, the Southwest has served for eight years, South-south six years, put them together it isn14 years, they left Northwest alone another eight years with two years of Yar’Adua, which is 10 years, only one zone out of the three, the Northeast has not gone, North-central has not gone, the Southwest has gone, the South-south has gone, it remains the Southeast. “Look at the number of years they have gone, South has covered 14 years; North has covered or will cover 10 years when Buhari completes his tenure. “I don’t think they would allow the West, even if it is Tinubu, let him bring all the money in the world, the President will go to Northeast in 2023,” he said in an interview with Sun newspaper. On the political situation in the country, Awuzie described it as wobbly, saying that sometimes it seems President Muhammadu Buhari is on holiday and detached from the problems plaguing the country. He said, “We have a wobbling leadership, sometimes it appears to me that our president is on holidays, he has to take grip of situations. “We are in a country you cannot go to bed with your two eyes closed, a country you cannot guarantee six hours of light, a country priding itself that we can produce 8,000megawatts when South Africa produces 30,000megawatts, you are talking of 8,000megawatts for a country of 200 million population, I think we have a long way to go. “What I am saying is that the leadership should be more pragmatic, we must look at harnessing the best; our problem in Nigeria is that we are not using the best to drive both the economy and governance.” See more here https://thickmatch.com/2023-tinubus-billions-cant-help-president-prof-awuzie/ 21 Likes 2 Shares

The prof made some valid points but let me opine. The main reason why Tinubu or any southerner will find it very difficult to win peradventure he contests in 2023 is that there is great DISUNITY in the south The disunity is so clear that even a blind man could notice it. There is a cold war between the southern region especially the south easterners and those from the south west. For an example in this forum one constantly comes accross words like AFONJA, BIAFURO, Biafra, TIFFNUBU, COWNU, POTOPOTO REPUBLIC, BROWN ROOF REPUBLIC, SKULL MINING REGION, EROSION RAVAGED REGION E.T.C are some of the words used by each region to insult the other. The just concluded elections speak volumes. the SE and SW voted in opposite directions. The North knows this fact, so power will remain in the north beyond 2023 unless the south could bury the hatchet and unite 148 Likes 9 Shares |

Lightening: lol, South as south, like when the Igbo PDP members insisted that there should not be micro-zoning of the PDP Chairman to the SW, but every region of the south should vie for it 21 Likes 3 Shares |

Yes things are better in the Southwest than in southeast and will be more better in 2023 when a Yoruba man becomes president.. Buhari just taught everyone how the position of the president should be used to better the life their kinsmen.. in 2023 by the special grace of God it's going to be Yoruba government just like it's Fulani/Hausa government now..You Igbo trying to scuttle Southwest reach at presidency will wail tire!! Yoruba is getting this make una go kill una sef Nasa28: 29 Likes 1 Share |

Igbos are really putting lots of energy into the plot to scuttle power shift to the south by 2023. Instead of pushing for an Igbo presidency, they are all out advocating for the north just to spite the south west. We’ve got news for you snitches though, we don’t give a Bleep about what you think or who you support. We are on solid ground to win the next presidential election and no amount of bad belle can stop us. You guys can keep wailing while we keep winning. 55 Likes 7 Shares |

I think that the only reason why it would be almost impossible for Tinubu is because he is a Southern Muslim. A Northen Christian or a Southern Muslim would hardly be President of Nigeria today. The political configuration wouldn't allow that given that the choice of deputy becomes problematic! While the South might be more liberal with a Southern Muslim, the North esp the KKK states would never give their votes to a Northen Christian as Presidential or Vice Presidential candidate. 9 Likes 1 Share |
