1. This to inform the Passport Applicants that with effect from 24th June, 2019 passport processed at the High Commission will be mailed directly to the home address of the applicants. Consequently, applicants are required to submit pre-paid self address express service envelop on completion of bio-metric capturing. For emphasis, henceforth, mailing of paspport to all applicants is mandatory.

2. Applicants are also reminded to use this official facility and desist from using a third party or touts to request for passport. Consequently, Nigerians applying for passports are urged not to use the App (myVisit) for their appointment as its no longer valid for appointment booking. Applicants are advised to come strictly on the interview date printed on passport payment slip. Thank you.

Now, it will be easier to renew and obtain passport.

Before this development, after attending appointment, one will need to go back to collect one passport. Often, the passport is not usually ready on the proposed collection date and hence most people get disappointed after wasting money on hotel and transport as people travel there from all over UK. Many people travel plans are shattered and therefore people become frustrated. Funniest thing is that this often repeat itself when being allocated another date.

With this development, there is no need to travel back to the embassy for passport collection after your initial appointment. All you need is to buy Royal mail special delivery self address envelope which costs 6.50 pounds. Just note the tracking number so you can track and estimate your passport delivery date.

Thank you Jeffrey Ewohime. It seems Nigerian government act swiftly to its citizens whenever there are protests and violations.

But this isn't new. It was suspended when there was acute shortage of booklets but resumed early last year.

But it was not effective and mandatory. People still have to come back.

But now, it is mandatory that everyone adopt this from 24th June, 2019.

While it wasn't mandatory, it was the preferred form of collection/return especially for those not living in London.
Making it mandatory will no doubt ease the pressure on their facilities.
I long for the day that our postal service back home will be very efficient to offer this type of service and our brothers and sisters trustworthy not to steal people's passports.
