OBJ: enemy of peace and the ebora of a failed Republic
By; Lateef Isiaq Adewale
It is clear indication that Nigeria get enemies and number one on the list is Baba Obasanjo, it's hard to determine to what interest Obasanjo is fighting for or to what course his continuous attempt to bring Buhari government down. He did the same to Jonathan, issuing unstatemanlike statements capable of encouraging Military take-over during Jonathan era.
Baba has identified himself as a complete anathema to Better Nigeria by supporting Alhaji Atiku Abubakar during the last General election, this is not to question Atiku competency or integrity but on the ground of contents contained in Obasanjo published book "my watch" on pages dedicated to tell Nigerians the kind of president Atiku would be if voted to the office of presidency at any point in his entire life.
I began to wonder the relevance of some of the past leaders on the demand to rationanalize the reasons Nigeria continue to fail as a united nation from independence and lapses in our transition to humanitarian Democracy despite the bad experience of military hijack of what was promising to be the test of our common ties as one Nation if the Democracy was allowed to escape its early struggles.
The whole system is crying for total overhaul and fresh brains. If Nigerian youths could forgive Past Military leaders for ruining our generations before many of us were born, it should be enough for them to stay away from any Democratic process. These are the people that rose to the position of authority at their youthful age with their military status quo and they are still the same set of individuals frustrating the development of the country at their old age.
None of their contributions has ever yield any positive results Obasanjo was a military head of state and two times Executive President, he failed woefully and his administration would only be remembered for his Battle of power between himself and his vice Atiku.
I seems to be baffled why the likes of Babangida is still allowed to enjoy cool breeze without any reported trial for 1993 election annulment and aside from that the way they looted the economy. Up till today Abacha looted funds is still not recovered fully over 20years of his demise and the likes of Babangida has not refunded a dime from his looted funds not to talk of Obasanjo. The simple fact is that they have sold the future of the country to themselves and there is no blood of satisfaction left in them again.
The only thing left with obasanjo is now derisory polemics and war ambition at the age when he's supposed to be seeking for forgiveness from The Yorubas and Nigerians at large. His absence in the new Democracy June 12 anniversary dedicated for his late state-man Mko Abiola is enough to figure out the fading pedigree of the former president in humanitarian Democracy. If Baba could forget he was handpicked in 1999 to ran for presidency as a bid compensate the Yorubas for the mko Abiola murder and to make up for the annulment of Abiola 1993 election Victory.
Its hard to believe why any Nigerians will take Obasanjo and his words so serious, what do we expect from the "owu Farmer" who's afraid Ruga settlement project across the federation will affect his farm business because of the possible economic impact of such project. Nothing is really wrong about the Ruga settlement project, one of the most bubbling place in Ibadan is Sabo because of the Hausa turned Yoruba people that occupy the area and is like that in some of the states of the federations without any security threat.
To condemn Ruga is not the issue but hiding under ethnic and religious shadow to incite civil war is an offence that should be punishable. Nigeria is no Central Africa republic, we have entirely different culture and history, because war broke out in Central Africa Republic in 2013 is not enough to propose war for Nigerian, what's the population of Central Africa Republic republic, how many tribe is in there?, what's their conomic strength?, what's there social standard?, what's there international exposure?
My fear for Nigeria youth is that we continue to embrace the culture of fear with our burning desire to safe our dear country from the hands of the cabals.
So, Obasanjo is encouraging Nigeria youths to troop out to the street and pick up weapons to start civil war over a certain economic and security visionary project. Maybe Baba sons and daughters will lead the war. if you have no means of correcting past errors, why not keep silent and locked up from issuing statements that could inspire violence.
I have always said the blood thirsty Fulani rustlers are hired by particular cabal of politicians just like Boko Haram sects to disturb governance and pursue a course for Civil war. Ethnic and religious violence are political war tools designed to divert attention of common Nigerians from any thoughts of Revolution. And its proved to be working, even though No mosque in Lagos state, Oyo state, Ogun state, or Churches in any parts of the country has wage war against each other to settle religious scores. If there's any means of evaluating Nigeria unity, let these political bigotry go to NYSC Camps where almost every tribes is represented throughout the federation and no case of ethnic pt religious war has ever been reported, No Christian army has ever been reported to kill Muslim ones or a Muslim police officer reported to kill a Christian colleague over religious or ethnic differences. And they continue to use their rented terrorist groups to divide peace loving common Nigerians.
The talk about weaknesses of Hausa/Fulani member of the armed forces in war fronts should not be taken lightly, Baba should be summon to defend such provocative statements. He should be disregarded as retired military man for that kind of statement.
If am an hausa/Fulani person irrespective of my political belief, I will begin to see Obasanjo as enemy because he speaks as if he's Always been planning war against Hausa and Fulani prior to this time, Why would the weakness of Hausa/Fulani soldiers be his concern?, to what interest is such treasonable statement?, is it to inspire hatred or ethnic war among the Nigerian army?.
Baba is not only the enemy of Entire Nigeria, He is enemy of his own family, town , states ,tribe and faith. How many members of his own family did he help while In office not to talk of state or the entire Yoruba land outside politics, maybe if he had love the Yorubas as much as Buhari is trying to comfort his tribemen maybe Lagos-ibadan express road. Abeokuta-lagos road would have been the best in Nigeria, He did absolute nothing for Yoruba's except to jealous the dynamism of thriving Yoruba political saviours. I wonder what position Yoruba's would be in Federal Setting If we don't have Tinubu.
Its high time to consider Obasanjo as a fiend and not a friend of progressive Nigeria.
