As a Diplomat he should have been more careful and professional. He was in WDC when the whole Clinton Saga took place. Emails are not reliable to make secret statements that could cause disruption between two world powers. Even his country knows he was wrong.

Such communication were not meant to be seen by anyone not privy to UK diplomatic mail so its diplomats can speak with their home government open mouth and give no holds barred advise. My thrust was that the frequent occurrence of such leaks is bound to limit the public officials who serve as diplomats from advising their home governments appropriately.

The culprit is the traitor who leaked official secret memos of the British Foreign office. They don't know the duties of an Ambassador. Walter Carrington ( US Ambassador to Nigeria) was given 24hours to leave Nigeria by Abacha. It has happened to several envoys in different countries. For the host President to have a case against an Ambassador with such acidic attack based on leakage of intelligent report is enough to make any ambassador resign in US.

Trump diplomatically told him Washington can no longer work with him. It means so many things. He loses the confidence of US security from Diplomatic Protection Unit and can no longer have meeting with Trump on Bilateral issues.

Everything here is normal in diplomatic service. It has always being like that and will not change . The resignation was because of the embarrassment caused by the leakage. The statement remains valuable to the British Government including to the incoming Prime Minister. The next ambassador to Washington will continue to give similar and even more damaging reports when necessary, but he will make efforts to avoid leakages.
