Ighalo positioning is the issue, chukwueze also did a square play, Ighalo was not there to just tap it in and score

No, he passes to no one. He doesn't pick anyone to pass to. He just pass the ball hoping that a SE player will be there
The last part of this comment is phony and funny.

Why blame Ighalo? Most of you like football but you don't really understand the game.
We don't commit men forward when attacking, Ighalo most times is isolated in the opponents box all by himself, surrounded by 3 or 4 defenders and you know how physical African football is.... So what do you want him to do?
He has even tried in scoring 3 goals already in this competition.....do you think it is easy? You should have blamed the coach for taking only Ighalo as a striker for this tournament, because I can't really count Onuachu cos he doesn't know how to make use of his legs.
But as it is now, the deed has been done, and the only thing we should be talking about now is upping the way we mark because the Algerian play like the Europeans and they are a high pressing team.

so Henry Oyekuru and Victor Osimhen are defenders abi? And the above are even better than that Onuachi of a supposed striker. Henry in particular had an awesome season yet he has not featured in any of our matches. that's bad

Musa is not crossing with his natural foot because he playes on the left side of the attack.

His crosses are always few inches to the centre, while Igalo as a striker follows his natural instinct and runs to the byline.

We need a late runner from the middle of the pack (iwobi) and Amhed needs to make his crosses a little slower to enable the late runner catch the ball at the right time.

Good observation. wink

Many of those players can't keep up with Musa's pace that's why witness lost or loose passes unutilized.

You got a point there. cheesy

EditLord:
I watched the Nigeria South Africa match and I was a little confused as to why Musa was subbed when there's high chance that we might head into extra time. He gave that South African defence some troubles, same as Chukwueze.
The problem is our number 9 lacks positioning. Ighalo was nowhere to be found when Musa crosses.

Meanwhile, please I need someone to help me with business plan on photography. I need to submit it urgently, abeg make una help me
olekumaster@gmail.com
Ighalo was trying to transition his game from being a poacher to a cross attacker. He wasn't successful at that and it caused confusion to his team mates who were already used to supplying him passes in the poacher position.
Ighalo can always spring a comeback surprise once he composes himself sharply but then i reckon from all observation, that a double sub/introducing of both Ighalo and Musa at half time will be the best. Osimhen and Onyekuru respectively to start and pay first half ony

common, his passes or crosses are either too long or to no one in particular. The problem is that Musa is not confident of his abilities which is why he tries to pass or cross the ball thereby passing responsibilities. He has pace, he should take on defenders one on one and cut in more often not always running to the goal line.

i Also agree that Ighalo is a poor finisher, but he´s the best finisher we have in that team.

I don't know say u people also noticed that shocked

Anytime Musa goes for a mazy run and my Siblings and dad rises in expectation,I always tell Dem "calm down, goal won't come"...this has been d case from our first match.

The fault is from Musa,The Coach and Ighalo.

Musa always rushes to pass at once, even when the post is facing him,or wen d defenders are already fidgeting and he has chance to drift in more, he always releases the ball so early..this is why I prefer Onyekuru because he has eye for goal and he is pacy like Musa as well.

The coach is to be blamed because that seems to be his instruction that Musa is now adhering to,,Musa scored solo goals against Iceland even wen there is someone to pass to,so this new pattern I never understand.. Secondly the team is playing more of conservative with two defensive minded midfielders and d wing backs rarely joins the attack..if not we won't only depend on Ighalo to score those cutbacks and passes..Use Mancity for instance,Sterling,Bernado,Walker or Mendy can never pass after run without someone hitting it into d net,,someone must be there to show d difference in tactics.

Finally,I still say this..Ighalo is not d best of what we deserve...Look to the bench and bring on Osimhen or Onyekuru.. those boys are younger, pacy, sharp, positions well and possess killer instinct..Ighalo is old fashion he scores tapins wen it falls to him but disappoints wen needed..even on our last match he was no where to be found weneva Chukeueze works d ball...

Henry might be a striker in his club side, but I've never seen him play striking role in the national team.... The couple of times he featured in the qualifiers, he played from the flanks.

i dnt know why som1 wud b sayin ighalo is d problem we av in dis team....look at what he has done for us in d qualifyin series nd d number of goals he has scored in dis tournament...as a matter of fact he is one of he highest goal scorers....big teams av crashed out frm dis tournament and we are still there...rather than castigating ighalo or musa, lets priase dem and tell dem to increase dier performance

Why can't Rohr start Ighalo and substitute him at 70 mins to enable us see what Onyekuru offers?

Afterall, Ighalo has been given lots of opportunities in the GWG that is making Rohr and other Nigerians feel "we don't have options".

In the game against Cameroun, it was clear to all that he was effective in the game, but same can not be said about the South African game.

My problem with Rohr is his inability to make changes when it's due.

Ighalo was not having a good game against South Africa, as it normally happens in football. Why not try Onyekuru or Osimhen? It's either they

perform or they don't perform. Ighalo was not performing, so the "risk" ( quote and unquote) was worth taking.

He started as a striker in Eupen where he developed his game..but since his move to abderletcht and now Galatasaray he has been a threat from wings ..

Let's make this noise loud enough on social media.

We need to see Onyekuru or Osimhen for at least 20 minutes.

70 MINUTES is enough for our darling Ighalo to score goals.

Not good ooo....
It's suicide mission.
He needs only a partner he can team up with to run like Victor Moses.
If that whole team run, we go chop counter goals

I get your point, but I still feel our offensive-minded midfielders should be able to play in tandem with our strikers while the defenders and defensive midfielders keep a high defence to prevent counter-attacks.

Ighalo is really a poor finisher. His movement in the box is really poor.
Considering the caliber of strikers we currently have in the super eagles, I think Ighalo is the best and most experienced finisher. But it's true that his movement and positioning is poor.

Ighalo is a decent striker, he has proven that with club football (you might as well disagree with this) Musa never seem to raise his head to spot an attacker before square playing, watch Iwobi's assist to Chukwueze, spot the position of an attacker and release to his position or a smarter option is to watch his body movement, strikers are not robots, Musa does every other things so well until its time to square play which he has never learnt to integrate into his game over time....just watch Sane Sterling and the likes
