Please how is the government different from the people?
Is the government made up of foreigners, aliens or what
Don't many Nigerians steal and do sub standard work in their own corners?

Some questions demands no answer at all.

Why do the indigenes pay taxes?
Why is allocation from the FGN collected by the local and state governments on their behalf?
Do you know what you are talking about

Uncle before you talk about tax or no tax do you wait for the government to clean your house when it’s dirty.

Is a personal house the same as public space, such as gutters, roads, roadside bushes

So government has no role of authorising people to build and monitoring for compliance?
Should we just scrap the government and live in anarchy
Nop, the govt built the road in good faith, People decide to build in the natural ways of water in that area, ie youths sold lands where they should not have plus the gullies were all built upon. This is an ongoing issue, plus the flood is and has damaged commercial activities at that jct. Note this is a federal road. Do not forget someone died last year due to protest F sars opened fire. Even if the FG fixes the road, the water has nowhere to go, some houses need to be brought down as in destroyed to return the normal flow of water.ALl the youths need do there is dig gutter on the Right, there is a deep channel less than 100 feet, why can't the youths mobilise to dig that gutter, it won't take a week.

Nkpolu Rumuigbo
Nkpolu by interpretation means hill top .Geographically, Nkpolu Rumuigbo Junction is situated at a strategic place that is economically useful in terms of road network .

Beyond that,Nkpolu Rumuigbo Junction is a place where four ways meet. From Nkpolu Rumuigbo Junction you can access other part of Port Harcourt including ,Rumuala, GRA ,Port Harcourt LGA via Obi Wali Road.

You can also access the International Airport through Nkpolu/Rumuagholu/SARS Road .

The popular University of Port Harcourt and University Teaching Hospital can be access through the East/West Road .

From this same junction ,you can access Rumuokoro to other part of Port Harcourt including Onne Oil and Gas Sea Port.

Remember Nkpolu means hill top ,you will agree with me that, that is supposed to be the true position. Of course it was a place to identify with until early last year when the place got flooded.

Today Nkpolu Rumuigbo has become a valley of water and sometimes in the news it is called valley of blood as it were. This blood shed Must Stop!.

Looking at the flooding at Nkpolu Rumuigbo junction, no doubt ,few individuals may have contributed to the flooding by blocking water ways, some of them with government connections perhaps .

But we know that Government is for the people and not for individuals. Why then do we live as though we don’t have a government that is of the people.

What wrong has Nkpolu man or Nkpolu Rumuigbo as a community done to the Federal, State and Local Government that cannot be forgiven? Is the reproach not enough? People source of living are grounded for almost 2years, property, goods and cars destroyed on daily basis .What about the man hour loss?Think about the souls that have gone as a result of the flooding.

I also don't want to believe that the shooting & killing on Tuesday was to intimidate the community from any further cry against the abandonment of the failed part of Nkpolu Rumuigbo Road and failed part of the East/West Road?

However, it has become more worrisome that we have the former Super Minister of Transportation of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Rt.Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi and back home here we have Mr Project, the working Governor of Rivers State Chief Barr. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike not to talk of our representatives at the National Assemblies and State Assembly.

These two men, the former minister and the Governor of the State are men of capacity. Both of them have carried out Federal Project as Governor and as Chief of Staff unanimously.

At the present, the Governor has carried out projects worth billions of Naira successfully.

In conclusion, Nkpolu Rumuigbo Junction and Nkpolu Rumuigbo Road is not a difficult thing for the Governor, Mr project to handle.

Dear Governor ,Mr Project ,this is part of your community, Nkpolu Rumuigbo in Apara Kingdom. I Am sure you are not taking pleasure in your people's plight, the excruciating pains and sufferings .

The Mr Project I know will at this critical point rise up to the occasion not minding the limited fund available or any hindrance and work towards delivering dividends of democracy to his people ,the Nkpolu Rumumigbo like you have always done.
Thank you sir, this is with utmost anticipation.

-Long Live Federal Republic of Nigeria
-Long Live River State
-Long Live Obio/Akpor
-Long Live Nkpolu Rumuigbo

Meanwhile, with Umahi congratulating Elumelu, and Saraki hosting these guys too, it's like there is a ground plot to clip Wike's wings in PDP.

Nkpolu is actually on a federal road.

NKPOLU JUNCTION IS ON EAST-WEST ROAD LINKING EDO, DELTA, BAYELSA, RIVERS, AKWA-IBOM & CROSS RIVER STATES.
JUST AS WE HAVE ORE JUNCTION IN ONDO, OKADA JUNCTION IN EDO, AGENEBODE IN EDO, NINTH MILE IN ENUGU.
THEY ARE ALL ON FEDERAL ROAD.

The summary of your post is that the government is as irresponsible as the people.
So let them/us all suffer for our irresponsibility

The youths should pressure the local government to do its job for which it receives millions in allocation monthly plus the IGR raised from the people.
Do you understand that

By destroy I mean total removal not just breaking glass windows and looting. The owner that bought that land should have known that it would block the channels. Almost all the the shops across have shutdown due to the flooding. Do you know how much is lost a day, compared to the eatery?

Nop not at all and far from it, the youths who collect monies from all them shos selling building materials should roll their sleeves and wear shots, get shovels dig 100 feet of gutter to link the water to the channel already built by govt to divert this water from the road, if you have been to that location you will find out the water is flowing from the community unto the road.

I live at mercyland, the bus stop before nkpolu. That water has affected my car more times than I can remember.

Still I maintain my position. If you want anyone to vacate a legitimately owned property then you have to offer a compensation. Take a moment to ponder on your reaction if it was your own property.

Bro I'm too civilised to buy such a property,I won't be that stupid to do so no matter how cheap it comes. The said owner will soon sell it has he is getting nothing in return for his business and it is suffering!

So why should one person shoulder the burden? Not like it was a free land.

The community has to provide another land as compensation if they're ready.

You cant bully an investator and destroy his business after legitimately selling land to him/her.

Should we discard the government completely and have anarchy
Why does the government collect taxes, levies, rates, fines, penalties and other IGR revenues from the people in addition to the monthly federal allocation?
If the government cannot do its work, why should it continue to exist

That one na long talk oga. They sold the land to the 'investor'. Developing the land to the point that it blocks the water channel is a different issue.

The owner made a big mistake and didn't research properly.

The flooding on the road wasn't so bad at the time so his judgement could have been wrong. But still, his building plan was approved. He invested, got attacked. Why should he care about the people after his business was vandalized?

Do you know that if the govt constructs a better drainage system, no matter when, the value of that land will keep appreciating in value? Irrespective of whether sales are coming in or not.

Even if it takes 10 years to fix the road, the value of that property will be higher in 10 years.

What happens if a flood that's too big for that single property occurs? Will you tell other people to give up their lands?

Remember this is 2019. Problems can be solved more efficiently than just allowing water seep through to anywhere.
