From the facts of the crime, motive was clearly a precursor to the offence. A summary of the events which led to her pardon are that:

1) Yewande, a lawyer with the State Ministry of Justice, faced a charge that she stabbed her husband to death on 2 February 2016

2) She reportedly stabbed her 38 year-old husband twice.

3) Oyelowo (husband) died after he was brutally stabbed

4) The first time, she hit the husband on the shoulder, missing his heart by just few inches.

5) When the husband returned from hospital, she attacked him again, this time hitting him fatally on the neck. Oyelowo bled to death.

a) According to family sources, the argument between husband and wife had started over the husband’s proposed business trip to Europe and then to stop over to visit his child (from another woman) who’s also living in Europe with the mother.

b) “Their neighbour-the Landlord intervened in the matter and took Oyelowo to a nearby hospital for treatment as he bled profusely.

c) After treatment he was released to return home and instructed to rest as he had lost a lot of blood. On arriving home, the Landlord’s son offered Lowo his room to pass the night. But he declined the offer stating clearly that ‘all was fine as he trusted his wife and believed she didn’t mean to harm him’.

d) “Few hours later, a shout was heard again: it was the cry of a man in agony. Oyelowo was battling for his life, blood gushing out of his neck and mouth. His wife Yewande had used a knife to stab him once again, unfortunately it was in the neck, a very delicate part of the body. He was whisked to the hospital where he was certified dead on arrival”.

6) Charged with murder but convicted of manslaughter and handed a 7 year sentence.

7) Pardoned 3 years later after petition was allegedly written by highly connected family members of hers and under a committee made up of members of her State Ministry of Justice

cool Without prejudice to her pardon, many amongst the 350 cases left unpardoned constitute minor / simple offences worthy of the same prerogative order.

Learn a lesson from this...

If you have a knife wielding wife at any slight altercation...plan to run from her... undecided

This one will still have another affair and probably get married.. kiss

Suggests deliberately shoddy prosecution of the matter to ensure the least sentence possible. Malice afore thought and premeditated intent was clearly discernible. She initially used a scissors wounding him and later escalated the thrust by deploying a kitchen knife. It is beyond husband and wife fighting!

If you have connections and know the right people, you can get away with many things.
That is why it is good to be good.

All these feminists sef, you will stop at nothing until all men are wiped out, then your eyes will clear. The post tries to highlight the morally reprehensible nature of the decision to release her at this time, and that her well connected family might also have had something to do with it leaves a sour taste in the mouth. A lot of "awaiting trial" detainees are still being kept in Nigerian jails even when they've spent far more years than they would've, if convicted. So of the 350 that didn't make the cut, there isn't one who's case is more compelling than Yewande's for pardon? Give me a break.

Ha! She killed someone o. A human being - somebody's father, son, brother etc. She took a life. Whether it was his fault o, or it was a mistake or she planned it. Whatever's the reason, please where is your sense of empathy and compassion for the man's family?

Where's the justice for the man nah? His mother nko? What about his children, siblings etc? Feminists should please stop insulting our sensibilities with these unrelated arguments.

And you deserve pity. So you justify her very early release on the basis he might have been abusing her? God have mercy! So who told you he was abusing her? Also self defense did not come up in the case because, then you might have a point. She did murder him, and from facts it was premeditated. However the murder rap couldn't stick, maybe due to the quality of her representation or official cover-up. Remember the prosecution are her colleagues in Oyo state ministry of justice. But at least a manslaughter conviction was upheld. She ought to have been made to serve out her sentence, as repudiation for her actions and justice for the deceased.

If the role were reversed, would feminists like you be saying that he deserves mercy?

There is therefore some justification against early release. I'll still need to know more to come to a proper conclusion

Obviously, the person making this comment did not follow the story at all!

The deceased might have been deceptive in his relationship with his wife by not disclosing that he has a child out of wedlock. However, there was no mention at all that Lowo abused the lady, either verbally or physically. The wife was the aggressor in this case and deserves to be dealt with appropriately by the law. However, the power of influence was what played out in this case.

So are you recommending that every randy and unfaithful husbands should be killed by their jealous wives? Why not divorce the man instead of snuffing life out of the man who thought he could obtain forgiveness by appealing to his wife for his act of indiscretion? Even though we can call this a crime of passion because of the emotions of jealousy and the feeling of being betrayed involved, the woman obviously had the intention of killing the man. She got what she wanted - getting the man killed. She probably trusted that she won't be locked up for long due to her connections.

Based on what you wrote, should she even be released at all? This is inexcusable murder. This is a clear abuse of the judicial system if it's true

Those comdemning of early release should be giving 12 of the very best because she does not deserve to be released at all.

Your post is entirely daft and lacks any iota of logic in it.
This was premeditated murder, all ALL instances of assault that we know about came from one source. The wife.
Stabbed him near the heart at first, narrowly missed. Only to stab him in the neck while he slept.

This is an open and shut murder case, and people like you make it difficult for genuine abuse cases to be taken seriously when you post shite like this.

At your age, you still don’t know that men also can be victims of domestic abuse. You must do better.

The FACTS on ground is that she killed her husband in cold blood. And there are absolutely no claims in the public domain that the man was abusing the woman.

You need to broaden your education if you’re still unaware that domestic violence can swing to both genders, and many men also suffer DV.

People kill people for multiple reasons. It’s absolute buffoonery for you to jump to the ‘he as abusing her’ conclusion just because of her gender.
