Former presidential candidate, Kingsley Moghalu, says Nigerian youth cheat themselves by deciding against voting and choosing to follow reality television show, Big Brother Naija, Igbere TV reports.

Since its introduction in 2006, the BBNaija show, as it is fondly called, has gradually generated interest among young people in Nigeria. The show is currently airing its 2019 ‘pepper dem’ edition.

In a tweet on Monday, Mr Moghalu, a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), berated the youth for choosing to ‘spend their time on the wrong things on social media’ instead of investing in knowledge.

“Our youth cheat themselves when they don’t vote, spend their time on the wrong things on social media, follow the glitterati (@BBNaijafan) instead of the literati (knowledge), and vote, not for ‘ought to win’ but ‘likely to win’ (bandwagon to nowhere, i.e. one chance!),” he said.

While our first class graduates are not even recognised in our institutions and industries. SMH.

Thankfully, the last elections show that not all Nigerian youths are lazy or Atiku would be president today.

You can't blame BBNaija for giving some people what they want and making money off ignorance. What one can do is not be part of the BBNaija brigade oneself.

By the way, does bbn show contestants sleeping too? They had 24 hour bb in uk until it eventually lost audience when watchers realised how stupid it was making them so I expect bbn to go the same way as the dodo.

I have intentionally avoided any bbn thread like plague, cos I still find it hard to believe why I would sit down to watch the nonsense. If I want to watch indecency, I will kuku watch porn.
But with recent happenings in Nigeria, it is now obvious that many people lack the capacity to think without adding sentiment.
